Dario FranchittiTeam owner Chip Ganassi says that he expects to put together a “patchwork” of sponsorship for Dario Franchitti and his No. 40 NASCAR Sprint Cup team. Franchitti, the 2007 IndyCar Series champion, will debut as a rookie in the NASCAR series this season. The team has not announced sponsorship plans for that car.

Ganassi didn’t seem too worried about that while speaking with reporters during the annual NASCAR media tour put together by Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

“It’s going to be a patchwork thing we’re putting together,” the team owner said Monday on Day 1 of the NASCAR media tour . “We will have the budget to run it this year, I’m not worried about that. It’s just that we’re going to have to watch our nickels and dimes, but we’ll be just fine.”

The company (I forget the name) that owns Jim Beam should sponsor Dario with their Canadian Club brand for a few races when JB is not on Robby’s car.

Fortune Brands owns Jim Beam and just purchased a large share of a British company called
Allied Domecq PLC. Allied owns several spirits brand names such such as Kahlua coffee liqueur and Makers Mark Bourbon. Allied also own dunkin donuts and Baskin Robbins.
Possible sponsorship to be had there.

Lets face it, as great a driver as he is “franchitti” . How much appeal does he have for nascar fans?

Robby (top 35), Franchitti and Villeneuve with sponsor woes. Not to mention Yates (2 top 35 teams). Hard to believe it’s happening.

Dario could charge people $25 to get their picture taken with his hot wife. I think he’d pull in enough money to run 2 series! Maybe Ashley’s deep pocket Hollywood friends or the family’s Nashville friends could come through?

He’ll be fine with sponsorship with Canadian Club, but the idea for $25, taking a pic with Ashley Judd is a good idea!

Hell, I’d pay $25 to get my picture with Ashley! That’s a deal! Where does the line start?
