Awesome! This kid deserves the RCR equipment, and I believe he will win more than one race next season if this rumor is in fact true.
Stephen Leicht is a great talent.
Now, I love watching the Busch/Nationwide series but hearing of a talent like Leicht get an oppertunity like this from RCR makes me appreciate this series even more……maybe we see a title for him next year!!
Stephen deserves a shot more than anyone I know in racing. He has the raw passion, where he’d give anything to be out there turning laps. Not a lot of guys out there are like that anymore.
Excellent, I hope that it’s true, it’s not on Jayski.com yet though which I find interesting. He is as all of you have said, a great talent and for him to possibly be able to work with RCR just makes sense. Childress likes to give alot of guys a shot, I think his driver developement is possibly the best of all because he is trustworthy, he won’t leave you hanging if you don’t perform the first season out. He gave Clint Bowyer so much time to develop that now he’s gone from a split schedule with Harvick in the Busch (now Nationwide) series a few years ago, to a chance at winning the Nextel Cup. If that’s any indication, I believe that Stephen will be one of the guys to beat next season, Scott your not far off by thinking he could win the first Nationwide Championship next season.
One thing that I’m wondering about however, if he’s going to race in the Sprint Cup Series in ‘09, then what’s going to happen to the plans that were in place for Scott Wimmer, I like Wimmer and I really do think that he deserves at least one more shot at Cup now that he’s with RCR, his first competitive ride. Supposedly Wimmer was going to get a shot at Cup in a forth RCR entry fulltime in ‘09, after a possible full Nationwide season if sponsorship permits, right now he’ll almost have a full schedule driving alongside Jeff Burton I believe.
I hope this is true. This kid has talent and is a student of the game. Yates messed up by keeping Gilligan and signing Kvapil. He could have had this kid and probably a Riggs or a Yeley for a long time but was thinking cheap. They needs sponsors too and better cars. Yates isn’t going anywhere but down.
