Sorenson leaves Ganassi for GEM in 2009

Gillett Evernham Motorsports announced today that Reed Sorenson has signed a multi-year contract to join the team for the 2009 Sprint Cup season and beyond.
“I’m pretty pumped up about this,” said Sorenson who started racing at age six before winning 250 quarter midget races and 84 Legends races. I can’t wait to get in their cars, I really believe in what they are doing with their program with all their wins and poles this year. Ray Evernham and the Gilletts are going to give us the equipment we need to go out and be a contender each weekend and eventually race for a championship.”
“We will announce Reed’s sponsorships and car number in the near future,” said Tom Reddin, CEO of GEM. “He is a highly marketable young driver who knows how to win races, and has a long career full of promise ahead of him.”

I dont think the team change is going to help very much. I think he would have alot better luck in the trucks.

Sorenson, Coors, Target, and Texaco are all gone, and they’re laying off employees left and right. On top of all that they can’t find a sponsor for Dario and shut his car down. The writing’s on the wall folks!
I think Sorenson will be better at GEM than he’s been at Ganassi, but that isn’t saying a whole lot. I don’t see him contending for Cups, but he’ll certainly have a better showing.
Target hasn’t left Ganassi. Ganassi officials came out and said Target is solid through 2009.

Good move for Sorenson. Seems like everyone is headed for the door at Ganassi.
Look for Patrick to head from GEM to CGR, Possibly bringing sponsorship with him.

According to NASCAR.com, the plan is for GEM to expand to 4 cars, keeping Patrick, as long as they can find sponsorship for BOTH him & Reed. If they can’t find it for both, Patrick’s out and Reed will be in the 10.
I adore Patrick, he’s proven he can run with the leaders when he has the right car. Shoot, when I was at the Michigan race I watched him run in the top 10 for almost half the race until they messed up the setup. I really hope the sponsorship works out and he’s able to stay at GEM.

Chip needs to leave Nascar cause hes to much of a ladies man and likes to party. For one what business is that of yours, much less ours. Need you forget this is a very very succesful man, although his cup rpogram im sure isnt up to his standard, but to sit there and make a statement that has nothing to do with and what he does on his on his own time is his business. If I memeber correctly I once made a statement about Franchitti and his wife and you tore into me this is no different, I wasnt right when I said and you arent right now. Like I said before you have a off balanced double standard.
Now back on topic I like reed, i think this kid has the potential to be good, I mean lets face we have JPM, who i cant stand but hes an accomplished f1 driver so we know hes capeable, and he to hasnt been succesful, hopefully reed will have better luck at gem
Ladies Man…hahaha! I think I almost peed my pants on that one! He is an idiot! I am glad most everything is falling through for him. I don’t know if I would say Reed is dreamy either. I’m happy for Reed just not happy for my purse. Once again I have to purchase new stuff even after spending all that money at MIS this year. Oh Well! Good Luck to Reed!
Ganassi and his partner Ricky Ricardo wrote off Dario, Elledge and now Sorenson but spent $40,000,000 developing a mope like Mears. What goes around comes around Chipster.

Serves chip right to fail, and I hope his failure continues after the unscrupuless way he treated the best driver he ever had(Sterlin Marlin) with one of the best sponsors (Coors Light) so leaving nascar for him and felix(the rat) could not come soon enough
