Rudd to move into 2nd place in all-time starts

By starting Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway, #88-Ricky Rudd will have his 884th start and become second on the all-time list of career starts.
Richard Petty is the leader on the all-time starts list with 1,184 starts and will now be followed by Rudd with 884, and then Dave Marcis with 883. Rudd will be inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 28th.
Rudd has 58 starts at Talladega which is more than any other active driver.

I know I’m opening myself up for disaster if any Rudd fans happen to read this but BIG FRIGGIN’ WOW. Starts aren’t wins. Rudd is a decent driver. A great technical driver(I’ve seen his in car on the road courses), but a good driver ain’t necessarily a good racer (Ryan Newman shows us that every week).
Doesn’t Michael have most consecutive starts without a win? Where’s his hall of fame induction?
I know 23 wins is nothing to laugh at but come on, he has 884 starts!
58 starts at Dega? Wow, impressive. Not so impressive when you take into account that he only has 6 top tens there and no wins. Sure Dega ain’t everyone’s cup of tea… I’ll shut up now.

ricky rudd is awesome! he is one of the few remaining “real” race car drivers that you don’t see all day long complaining about some stupid shit. nascar is just a circus, a shell of its former greatness. rudd, along with guys like marlin, jarret, martin. these guys are incredible. give em a break. u ever mucked a stall in 95 degree weather? most of these new guys have probably never even set foot on a ranch, or anything of the like. nascar needs to get with it~!
