Roush will decide in 2008 which driver gets cut to meet team number limit

With Roush Fenway Racing facing the necessity of cutting a driver from its Sprint Cup Series roster from five drivers to four by 2010, team president Geoff Smith insisted that a decision would be made in 2008 so the distraction didn’t linger on for two seasons.
Certainly, several factors have to be taken into consideration such as length of sponsor contract, length of driver contract and simply what makes the most sense for the longevity of RFR. Roush veteran and Cup champ Matt Kenseth is locked in through 2010. Dewalt, the sponsor of the No. 17, is good through 2009. And Smith made it clear last Thursday that the company was currently re-negotiating with Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle, both whose contracts expire at the end of this year.
- Roush will have to cut one Cup team by 2010
- Is Biffle the odd man out at Roush?
- Loophole in NASCAR’s car limit rule for Roush-Fenway/Yates?
- NASCAR will not change age limit in 2009

My money is on JMAC to be odd man out.
What Rick said… Not looking good for McMurray, barring some unforeseen changes.
… Or David Ragan.
I think it’ll be McMurray or Ragan. Maybe Ragan, since he’s been there the least. I am hoping that one of them will go over to Yates Racing, considering Yates and Roush work together.
i think it will be mcmurray. david ragan has only been there for a year. i think roush will give him more time to develop as a driver before they cut him loose.
Kahne fan 9: I diagree with you because even though he has been there the least, he still has done better and improved more than JMac during their careers at Roush
I’d rather it be Ragan, sad to say, but he wouldn’t go without a ride for long though, he’d probably get moved to Yates or get picked up by Toyota (dead serious, lols). Then take most of 6 team and give it to McMurray, as well as the number, which should have happened in the first place…I still remember how he got screwed out of the 6, Roush should do something good for a change and give it to JMac. He won at Daytona in July last year in one of the closest finishes ever, he’ll win again this year…Ragan unfortunately, will not. Ragan will win in Nationwide this year though, I only like him because I remember when his daddy ran and because he’s a nice good-natured kid that you can pull for.
I’m not sure what Driver will get cut, but the team that gets cut will be the 26 team because Jack has more historical ties to the 6 team.
i think he shoulda never pissed all his money into david ragan in the first place, and when mark went, he shoulda just dissolved that team
what everyone seems to forget is that biffle may not want to stay with roush, he hasnt exactly had the best equipment as of late. He has said on more than once that that they dont do enough testing and i think he is looking for greener pastures.
I want to see Biffle leave. I have always been a fan of him, but have never liked Roush. I think Biffle would be a good fit at a Chevy team like RCR, or DEI, or maybe even a Toyota team like Gibbs (for some reason I don’t see Denny lasting there)
i hate to say it but i think rick is right i am a huge jmac fan ive known him since high school BUT look at overall finishes last year between him and ragan i think (i may be wrong ) but ragan had the better average finish last year minus jamies win but its all gonna come down to big $$$$$$$$ whio makes rfr the least is prob gone
