Roush applauds NASCAR’s decision on Toyota’s Nationwide engines

Team owner Jack Roush applauded NASCAR’s decision to limit Toyota’s engine horsepower in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, saying that the move is the first step toward controlling runaway engine costs in the garage. He says the concept guiding the rule will also impact the Cup programs and future engines, such as the new model that Ford is submitting for approval later this season.
“Ford and, to an extent, Chevrolet and Chrysler, are not doing as much testing in the Nationwide and truck series as the unnamed brand is, and that has also tended to upset and change the balance,” Roush said. “NASCAR has not been, in the past, against making a change that will balance competition. Their first priority, as seen by me, is to have contentious competition that is exciting for the fans and when, through the expenditure of resources or the advancement of technology, one manufacturer is able to outstrip the others, then it really is not healthy for the sport. NASCAR, as it should have, has the primary interest in the health of the sport. I certainly applaud what they’ve done.
“In today’s environment the domestic automobile manufacturers cannot afford to spend what Toyota has spent and is able to spend in trying to wrest an advantage from everybody else.”

Jack just go away, PLEASE!! YOUR A CANCER TO THIS SPORT!!!!
I agree with you!!
maybe jack is mad cause along ford having there 5th or 6th straigh quarter of losses he realizes his roush line of cars are no good.
Don’t worry, Wacko Jacko is getting older and soon enough not only will Motorsports not have to put up with him but the rest of the world will no longer have to either.
well at least nascar did the right thing for once, the nationwide series will at least have parity now.
This is not the first time NASCAR has leveled the playing field in the middle of the season, we have seen it before with the spoiler wars and everyone but Jack bi**hed so I guess he figured now its his turn.
you know it really pisses me off how “THE RAT IN THE HAT” can complain bout toyota bending the rules to get the horsepower but yet here he is leaving off top of boxes he has a mysterious sway bar disappear the somehow a yota team got, plus he is suppose to be rid off his 5th team next year he is going to bend the rules and have someone under the yates name, now that is obvious not a ytes team but because “THE RAT IN THE HAT” says it is, nascar is suppose to step back and say ok thats B.S.
Jack never got over the Pemberton and spacer plate/ intake deal that cost them a championship to Big E years ago. Jack, just quit being so miserable.
Hmm Kyle wins after leading all but 3 laps….
Guess Jack feels like an idiot now.

yeah….. take that Jack, NASCAR, and all the haters. It’s always been the team, not just horsepower.
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
I loved Kyles interview after the race talking bout all the complainers, I guess someone forgot to tell kyle he was suppose to roll over and play dead for jack, alright everyone that say toyotas cheating whats your excuse now?

The Tapered Spacer reduces HP and Torque and acts like traction control and limits wheel spin……. Or at least thats what Randy Lajoie thinks….. l0l
I wish they had a camera on the MAD HATTER at the end of the race when the yota won i would have loved to see jacks face
FISHA
i heard him say that to and that doesnt make any sense to me, if he has the same or less horsepower then other cars how come they could possibly have issues with wheel spin, to me that was pretty stupid
No actually it is true and does make sense. Less HP = Less Torque. Torque is what makes you move not HP. Less Torque with the weight of the car would make the car accelerate a little bit slower. Slower acceleration = Less chance of wheel spin.
So in theory it is true what he said, however did it really have that much of an effect, probably not because the spacer probaly only makes the engine loose a few ft/lbs of torque, but not enough to act as traction control.
true that it didnt make a bit of difference, i just like the way everyone tries to spin and put excuses out there why the loss of horsepower is helping them no matter what nobody well except reality and that toyotas are good no matter what
WWOOOOO HHOOOOO… I say Kyle is a hell of a wheel man, And loved the comments in VICTORY LANE!!

yeah, but consider the smaller spacer reduces maximum airflow (peak power). Acceleration from the exit of a turn usually has the rpms at approximately 2/3 the rev range. At that point, the tapered spacer has not restricted any required airflow for that exact rpm. If at all, the only affected area of performance is lower speeds at the end of the straightaway.
