Riverside Speedway has its second NASCAR driver for next Saturday’s IWK 250.
Organizers of the Pro All Star Series North race at the one-third mile oval in James River, Antigonish Co., announced Thursday that Ricky Craven, a veteran of 278 starts on the Nextel Cup circuit, will be in attendance, driving a car out of the Antigonish-based Nova Construction stable, which also fields cars on the Carquest Maritime Pro Stock Tour for George Koszkulics of New Glasgow and Antigonish’s Donald Chisholm.
Craven joins Nextel Cup rookie Regan Smith, who confirmed his participation Wednesday, in the field, with the rest of the entries split between PASS North tour regulars from the U.S., and Carquest drivers.
“I haven’t been racing full-time for a couple of years now, but I’m at the point where I control my own schedule,” Craven said. “And I expect to do more of these types of races going forward.
“This is something I’m really looking forward to. I’ll be able to bring my son up for the weekend, and neither of us have been to Nova Scotia, so that alone makes it pretty entertaining. To be able to race that weekend makes it even better.”
