In lieu of incidents involving race fans last week at Talladega Superspeedway, Richmond International Raceway president Doug Fritz is reminding fans today that anyone throwing or attempting to throw any object on the track will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
The continuation of this track policy comes on the heels of Fritz supporting Talladega Superspeedway’s president Grant Lynch’s request to ban the 14 fans arrested for throwing objects onto the track following last week’s Aaron’s 499 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race.
“Behavior of this type displayed by any individual will not be tolerated at Richmond International Raceway. Those 14 fans from Talladega will not be permitted to ever purchase our tickets. While we do not expect that type of behavior at Richmond International Raceway, we are prepared as always with track security and Henrico County police officers positioned throughout the grandstands. We also have added security surveillance measures throughout the facility as another way to help ensure the safety of our fans, the drivers and NASCAR officials.”
