Report: Stewart to team with Haas CNC & become Cup owner, reunite with Chevy

The latest rumor — courtesy of Fox Sports — has Tony Stewart teaming up with Haas CNC Racing to become a NASCAR team owner. Stewart’s contract with Joe Gibbs Racing is up after the 2009 season and he could decide it’s time to jump ship, given the ascendancy at JGR of Kyle Busch.
A deal with Haas, which leases its engines from Hendrick Motorsports, would reunite “Smoke” with Chevrolet. Stewart has maintained his relationship with GM through his World of Outlaws team and at his Eldora Speedway dirt track in western Ohio.

- Report: Stewart shopping for sponsorship for 2 car team in 2009
- Haas not looking to sell team despite legal woes
- Report: Graham Rahal to Possibly Drive for Newman Haas

Even if this is ultimately denied, don’t think it’s far fetched. Sources have said for awhile now of Stewart’s desire to eventually own his own NASCAR team and his association with Chevy runs deep.
Wow Kenneth, your a few days late on posting this….. l0l
But seriously, I’ve heard a few rumors involving this team, and they involve John Menard and his son Paul, or Matt Kenseth.
As far as Tony, I think he’s more loyal to Gibbs then Toyota. He’ll end up signing a lifetime deal and racing there for few more years till he wins the Daytona 500 and a maybe another championship and then he’ll cut back his cup schedule and go racing sprints/midgets and other stuff just for the fun of racing.
Hmm. Wouldn’t surprise me, really, but it would suck to see him leave JGR. As long as he’s out there doing his thing, I don’t really care who it’s with! BTW, Kenneth, what’s up with the color change? Is it just me?
Kenneth=
you scared the hell outa me, I thought I went color blind with this new layout in purple. lol
Change is good. To stay the same is going backwards.
Tony said a year or so ago that he had 0 intrest in runing a cup team. He was a driver and did not want to be involved with the runing of one…Maybe he changed his mind but I doubt it..

This morning was the first I’d heard of it having any real truth to it. Some other sources have indicated to me the Menard connection as well.

Hehe….just experimenting with some color changes…having all the linkable parts in blue..I kinda like it. All the red was gettin me anxious!
Hey Kenneth, I like getting away from red, but this is a tad bright for my tastes… Maybe something a little closer to purple?
I hope this is true, I think Stewart is too great of a talent to lose for chevrolet
haha… I can see stewart with Hendrick motors…. and Earnhardt, Jr…..and Johnson…and Gordon. MONOPOLOPOLOPOLOPY.
I dont like stewart, but hes a good driver so i dont want him with toyota
as for the colors, perhaps have it red at first and blue once visited, the all blue looks really bad
