Report: Mountain Dew and Amp Energy Drink to be Earnhardt, Jr’s sponsors-UPDATED

ESPN2’s NASCAR Now has reported that Mountain/AMP would probably be 55% of the races and National Guard would be 45% of the races for Dale Earnhardt Jr. There would be no problem with Navy being the sponsor of Dale Jr’s #88 Busch team, but that he would not be able to drive it.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Hendrick Motorsports are expected to announce later this month Pepisco Inc. products Mountain Dew and Amp energy drink are his primary sponsors for next season, ESPN.com sources confirmed Sunday.

These seem to be kid’s drinks.
Be shocked, alot of adults actually drink Mountain Dew. At least now people that still go to school can wear Jr., shirts without getting trouble for it!
like kass said about mountain dew, its probably one of the most popular soft drinks among everyone in the US…and also Amp Energy drink is pretty popular amont teens and early 20’s

Its going to be real hard not seeing the familiar red of budweiser running around the track. Instead, its going to be a greenish yellow.
Just dump out the Dew and replace with a cold Bud… ah ah yes much better now.
Mountain Dew has sponsered a cup champion before looks like the’ll do it again
Since Pepsico owns KFC , Pizza Hut and Taco Bell , I wonder if those will end up on the car as associate sponsers from time to time?
Budweiser has sponsored a cup champion before, looks like they will be doing it again.
There will be a Bud car up front at all the races.

I find it ironic that Kasey Kahne was once sponsored by Mountain Dew. Now he’s going to get Junior’s sponsor….and Junior will get Kasey’s old sponsor.

Thank god its not a small company that would only be able to afford a season and then they would have to change all the merchandise again in the near future…mountain dew/amp is big so they’ll stay around for a while. Kids will be able to wear Jr. merchandise to school again.
Plus, I hated seeing young kids/teens running around in budweiser merchandise looking like white trash…who in their right mind would let their underage kids run around in something with a huge alcohol label on it anyway?
Black, Green, and Silver are the main AMP colors. And Mountain Dew has the Green, Silver and Red,… there really isn’t any Yellow in either cans, it’s a lighter Green.
Let’s not forget about Mountain Dew Code Red,… another favored drink. And we all love watching JR race around the track in that Bright Red car.
JR has got some great sponsors under his belt now,.. it will target more younger people,… and let’s face it guys,…. we’re not getting any younger. Targeting younger people won’t be a bad thing at all for our favored sport! Plus I agree with what some of you have put out,… I would rather see my kids running around with something that said Mountain Dew on it than Budweiser!
What I was wondering,… is Addidas still going to sponsor JR as well???
I do believe that JR. should bring back the KFC. NO 81, AND THE NO.83 HOT TAMALES CAR!!
83 is already taken though. And I just thought of this randomly, but Red means stop. Green means go. So I think that might be a sign for Jr. LOL.
Mt Dew is the elixir of life and maybe AMP will get Jr in the chase (or should i say “sprint”) next year

Yes, Adidas will sponsor Junior in 2008. He has a whole line already to be put out there. As for the Mountain Dew, I looked at the can. You’re right, there isn’t much yellow:( Then there’s the whole Code Red franchise. Either way, it’s gonna be great:D

Whoa, Amp is my Favorite Drink and Im in my 50’s, Go Jr!!! Also, if you will mix that little drink with some of Junior Johnson’s, Midnight Moonshine, recipe is 1 1/2 jr and Amp drink, you will get a kick that will send you flying high.
NOW, vision, 95% of the Fan wearing Black on Sundays to the Tracks, Amped to the Sky with their drinks spike with Junior Johnson’s, Midnight Moonshine and that is a Winning Mix.
They can paint the Car black, Jr favorite color and put the numbers in silver, than put on the sponers. ZAP winner !!!!!!!!!!!

Jeff, National Guard would be doing a double sponsorship, like Red Bull
for the 83 & 84.

Jr. showed them last Sunday he was not a so-so driver as someone last posted , his team made it look that way. I hope he shows everyone who downs him because of the decisions he’s made for himself. I don’t care about the number the color I am a Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan!
I hope all you Jr fans are ready for Dale to be driving the red-headed stepchild team at HMS! Just read on Jayski that Mears will go to the #5 team and Jr will get the #25 team with a new number and Eury Jr as his chief! Hopefully Rick will get that team on par with the other 3. At least you’ll be able to see what Mears can do in absolute top-quality equipment next year!
I agree with Jeff, that 25 car has killed a number of drivers careers…if he doesn’t come out of the box next year and win races and contend for the championship his will be over too! Mears may have won the Coke 600 with that thing but that was all fuel strategy! He hasn’t done s*** since, ole Jr. will have his work cut out for him again next year…

Great, now all the Jr fans at the races will be hopped up on sugar instead of drunk. No real change though. They’ll all still get up and leave early when Jr. blows up or wrecks. More room on the bench for me.

Amp Energy Drink had a car early this year when they sponced Kevin Lepage at Daytona. he drove the #61 car and the paint job looked just the can. but look for them to spice things up with Jr’s paint scheme on his car.
