GinnGinn Racing hopes to have a decision on the future of the No. 13 car before Friday’s Nextel Cup qualifying at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com

The financially strapped organization has been in discussions with Dale Earnhardt Inc. about possibly selling the No. 13 team for its owner’s points or merging with the company formed by the late Dale Earnhardt.

There have also been discussions with selling the points to the No. 78 car of Kenny Wallace in time for Sunday’s race at Indianapolis. The Barney Visser-owned team is 42nd in points and has made only nine races this season.

Ginn could also race the car with Joe Nemechek if a sponsor can be lined up at the last minute for the high-profile race.

But sources said it is clear the car, 34th in owner’s points and comfortably inside the top 35 guaranteed a spot in each race with a 244-point lead over 36th, will not be idle this weekend.

Nemechek in the #08 at Indy, the #13 points to Kenny Wallace’s team and Mark Martin driving for DEI at Indy (#01). I think Regan Smith is screwed!
