Rumors that have surfaced recently about a possible alliance between Chip Ganassi and Roger Penske in NASCAR racing, or of a possible Penske buyout of Ganassi’s stock car team? Both men field Dodges in Sprint Cup racing, and at the recent Indianapolis 500, won by Ganassi driver Scott Dixon, the two pillars of the sport reportedly appeared a lot more chummy than usual.
Sunday at Dover, Mike Accavitti, director of Dodge Brand and SRT Marketing Communications, said he had read the rumors but scoffed at them. “Absolutely preposterous,” Accavitti said. “That would be like putting the Hatfields and McCoys together.”

Don’t dismiss this entire article just yet, I know its alittle hard to gather, but this has something more to it. While I think in Dodge’s word the alliance or joining forces is in there words is “preposterous”, the second part where Penske Racing might buyout Ganassi Racing isn’t. Think out, I think if Ganassi has been offered this, he should take it and run straight to bank.
Wouldn’t be so bad at all considering Ganassi Racing in the IndyCar Series and the Grand Am Rolex Series has won races and championships, while Ganassi Racing in NASCAR hasn’t done much in years (1 victory last year at Sonoma with Montoya)…Just a thought.
Mike Accavitti would not have any knowledge of what is going on in either team office unless they let him know what they are planning or discussing. and if they are indeed talking buyout i think that would be smart for both sides.
I think the only reason this is even a rumor is because Felix is retiring in 2010 (I think its 2010)
this is just plain stupid and just to bring up news cause they got nothing else to talk about….everything is possible and if they were talking about it…do you think they would want the press involved?…doubtful
if you all recall…Rick Hendrick said He had NO intentions on signing Dale JR last season at all…and 2 weeks l8ter…WALA!!! driver #8 became drive #88 a few weeks after that…gimme a break…
i guess RCR is gonna merge with HMS at the end of 08 as well…lets start that rumor now..shall we?
No Darrell there is legs to this rumor because of Felix retiring soon, but there is little to no truth to the rumor itself. So it’s a legit rumor, just not a true rumor….. l0l
