Oregon legislators approve land use for NASCAR track

Both chambers approved a bill to expedite land use review of a destination resort and amenities that would surround a proposed NASCAR-style speedway that developers want to build near the Morrow County town of Boardman.
Two developers have been negotiating with NASCAR in hopes of persuading it to pick Boardman for a Pacific Northwest speedway, which local officials say would be an economic boon to Eastern Oregon.
Rep. Greg Smith, R-Heppner, said the land use bill is aimed at clearing the way for developers to move forward with the speedway project and to show NASCAR that the state supports the $500 million project.
“We’re trying to tell NASCAR, ‘We’re open for business. Boardman wants you,’ ” Smith said. The bill now goes to the governor.

Thats great! Now if the idiots up here in Washington would approve a track up here then that would be totally killer. Maybe oregon could help us Nascar fans persuade Olympia to approve a track here.

So maybe you all don’t want more tracks up north here but WI sure would love a track too!
I agree Nascarfan4life24! I live close to where the track was
supposed to be in Kitsap County and I have been all for a track here
since the rumor first started coming out! I highly doubt, though,
with the legislation we have, we’ll ever get a track. I’m still
keeping my fingers crossed. My dad got me into NASCAR, but he doesn’t
travel. I’d love to have a track close by so he could go with me.
The races at the local track pale in comparison (obviously)to the
amazing experience you get in person at a NASCAR event!
