Newman has three serious options for 2009

Newman acknowledged on Saturday in Chicagoland that he has three serious options outside of Penske. A source close to the situation said Newman has been in discussions with Stewart Haas, Joe Gibbs Racing and Richard Childress Racing. The source added there is a firm offer from Stewart-Haas and that potential sponsors are set, but that the deal is not done.
Newman said one of his options included ownership of equity in the company. Stewart-Haas general manager Joe Custer said his company is not looking to give up any more ownership than the 50 percent already given to Stewart. JGR officials have consistently said they are not interested in giving up ownership.
Team owner Joe Gibbs and president J.D. Gibbs talked on Saturday as though 18-year-old sensation Joey Logano could replace Stewart in the #20 Home Depot car next season. RCR, looking for a driver for a fourth team sponsored by General Mills, and GEM already are divided into partnerships.
- Ryan Newman looking elsewhere in 2008?
- Reports: Stewart to opt out of final year of Gibbs contract, move to Chevy-UPDATED
- AT&T still considering logo options for this weekend
- Newman to leave Penske at end of season
- Newman may or may not stay at Penske

I have a feeling that the Ownership offered isn’t so much Actual ownership as it is Paper-work Ownership like Jeff has with the 48 and Mark Martin had with the 17 car.
if the deal does not happen with Tony i would be surprised. on Saturday the 2 were reminiscing about there USAC days and we all know that they both won it back in 95 and 96. i dont see Ryan signing with RCR, he is not what Richard is looking for, and as far as JGR, hes not walking into that with Toyota.
and lets not forget Matt Borland, 12 of Ryans 13 career victories were with Matt and he works at Stewart/Haas as director of competition Since they split ways Ryan has not been happy over there. They are good friends and you can bet that with Ryan with his degree from Purdue that he would be a great asset to that company.
HOWIE WITH ALL YOUR INSIDE SOURCES, WHY DONT YOU BREAK THE NEWS FOR US.
I don’t think he will be with JGR. I believe Joey will be in that
car next year. I would prefer it be Martin Truex though.

Isn’t it wrong of JGR to be pushing Joey through the series so fast. I mean, at least give him a season or two in the nationwide series so he can get more experience on him.

he does, its just cryptic. Its very clear reading his posts over the ast however long that he really knows what he claims he does, My guess is that if he started coming straight out and telling us what is really going on, rather than leading us in the right direction that he may no longer have access to the information that we seek
Keep up the good work howie, I personally enjoy your comments
….above post was mine, not andrew

I was at the Rock for the ARCA race and that kid must way 100 lbs soaking wet, he reminded me of Adam and he was very mature for his age. This deal with putting him in a car when he isnt even certified for superspeedways is crazy. but he will be in a Nationwide car at Dega this fall and Im sure that will tell us alot if he has the skills to come to the Cup level. after all that combines for 4 races and if you throw Fontana into the mix thats 6 that he has to be good on. it has a lot to do with Home Depot too.
Um… not to spoil what Joey will do but will not be either the arca or truck this fall, Nationwide series doesn’t run in the fall lol, that is why i always viewed the big one from them the one chance to show there talents lol.
I know he is a bean pole like Kyle! Kyle can wheel a car so I don’t doubt Joey can but we shall see. I have said let this bread rise with some more yeast before thrusting him in the spotlight. He does seem like a great kid (kid the operable word here) and mature. I wonder if he did like Kyle and graduated school early to race? If he had the motivation to do that he has the motivation to compete at the cup level. What worries me is he is a kid and we’ve seen many kids not be able to handle the pressures of the schedule and the media etc etc. I don’t think Kyle has done badly but he hasn’t done well handling all of this either. Smoke didn’t either and he was a bit older but Howie I am sure you remember he was a little skinny kid once too! He was back in the day in the IRL and USAC. He will put weight on as he ages as we all do. I just worry when young man like him and so many others are thrown out in the fishbowl. I think Kyle having his brother already there helped him and I sure hope he and Denny (I think Denny will be good to him and show him the ropes) will help him. I think Smoke has worked with him too and that is valuable. It’s not just NASCAR we’ve seen these young kids get smacked around the NBA has been bad for that too.
Tony’s not even gone yet and Newman is still at Penske. Logano needs some seasoning and we will just have to wait and see what happens. It’s nice to get “scoops” but I’ll wait for the dust to settle.

huh, Tony is a done deal as far as where he will be, Ryan is leaving Penske he already said that.
Casey Mears is obviously going to be in the RCR car.
Newman is obviously going to be in the second SHR car
And Truex is going to be stuck on a sinking ship at DEI.
The End.

you wont see Richard hiring Casey ever, if Martin by some chance does not go to Stewart /Haas he will be at RCR.
Howie, it is still 2008 was my point. No one is being released mid year that I know of. Maybe you and your infinite wisdom can tell us who will leave at this time of year? Tony wants to be in the Chase to win another title as far as we know. We are not talking Mayfield-Sadler stuff either like in 2006. Who will vacate a seat right now is the point. Probably no one. But Howie knows best. Just ask him.
Can I ask why my posts keep getting deleted???
Newman could probably get the BAM car if he brings a sponsor. Wait. I’m being sarcastic again. I hope his family doesn’t get offended by my putting this crap here.
