Ryan Newman was officially named the driver of the Stewart-Haas Racing No. 4 Sprint Cup car for next season Friday morning at Michigan International Speedway. Newman signed a multiyear contract to join the team. Newman, who announced he would leave Penske Racing last month, will join team co-owner Tony Stewart at the organization, which will absorb Haas-CNC Racing at the end of the year.
“It’s just a great opportunity,” Newman said. “I think a lot of Tony from a personal standpoint as well as a driving standpoint.” Newman says at least three other Cup teams made offers, but: “Talking to Tony and his people, it seemed to be the best decision for the right reasons.”

Yay! Glad this is a done deal! Now maybe everyone can move on and we can talk about racing!!!
Well the driver announcement was no surprise but
The lack of a sponsorship announcement is a bit
Troubeling. Hopefully a deal is close and Srewart isn’t taking
A gamble waiting for a sponsor that may not come.

A lot of driver/team announcements don’t finalize and announce
their sponsorship futures until after. Trust me, with Stewart being
on this team, sponsors will come for Newman knowing it could
be a powerful operation.
Make the announcement, let the bidding begin….
the sponsor for Ryan is Burger Slop
Watch out for SHR next year
Newman will be driving the 39 next year and not the 4.
