North Carolina Motorsports Association (NCMA) announced the nominees for the Inaugural NCMA Awards banquet scheduled at the new Embassy Suites and Conference Center in Concord, NC on January 30. Candidates from all forms of motorsports were nominated for nine awards in seven distinct categories including Education, Diversity, Marketing, Economic Development, Safety Innovation, Event Facilities, and Manufacturers and Suppliers.
Although membership is not required to be nominated, only NCMA members will cast votes to determine the winners. Winston Kelley, executive director for the NASCAR Hall of Fame, will host the event and various presenters will announce winners. Award presenters include CEO of DIRT Motorsports, Tom Deery, director of cost research for NASCAR and former NASCAR Cup Series driver, Brett Bodine, FOX broadcaster and one of the founders of PIT Instruction, Jeff Hammond, Sports Marketer, Max Muhleman, and Ralph Sheheen, who covers a wide variety of motorsports as a broadcaster on SPEED, to name a few.
The ceremony will conclude with an Achievement in Motorsports Tribute Award and will honor the memory and lifetime achievements of International Hall of Fame inductee, NASCAR Cup Series champion, PRN Radio show host and NBC/TNT broadcaster Benny Parsons. Parsons died from complications associated with lung cancer last Tuesday.
