BuschNationwide is moving into the final stages of negotiations to replace Anheuser-Busch’s Busch beer as title sponsor of NASCAR’s #2 series, sources are telling Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Daily. Michael Smith of Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal this morning reported in the Daily that Nationwide submitted an offer last Thursday, as did Subway, the sandwich franchise operation that had been considered the frontrunner.

Nationwide’s talks with NASCAR progressed over the weekend, the story said, and a contract proposal is believed to be in the legal pipeline at Nationwide. Officials at NASCAR say that it does not have a deal with a new sponsor, but sources say an agreement with Nationwide could be finalized in the coming days.

Haha, how funny will that be. The only NASCAR series that goes outside our nation’s borers will bhave the name nationwide.

Heh that would be ironic Luke. I guess Nationwide is no worse than Subway, Walmart, or any of the other cheezy sponsors that have been rumored to be taking over! I still think this would be a great chance for Coors or Miller to step in and snatch up more of Bud’s old sponsorship stuff… They already did it with the Pole Award, why not the Busch Series too?

“NASCAR Nationwide Series” it has a better ring than “NASCAR Subway Series” (which being from nyc sounds weird to me)

Never thought about that BFDRacing, but Subway Series would have a strange baseball feel to it… They would have to go with something different like maybe NASCAR Subway Racing Series, but that’s getting a little long-winded.

It’s been the Busch Series for so long that it just feels right! I guess one day we’ll get used to whatever it ends up being called, just like most folks have forgotten about Winston Cup now :(

NASCAR Dunkin Donut Series was best choice. :) But anyways, Nationwide does have a better ring
    to it than Subway.

i know that it would or could not ever happen but i would love to see AT&T grab the sponsership. Then AT&T can demand that all the NEXTEL logos have to be taken down and can not be shown during the “AT&T Series”. it would be a nice payback for the whole jeff burton ordeal. And as far as Subway getting the sponsorship, why would NASCAR want to make the Busch series anymore of a joke. The “Subway Series” i mean come on! what a joke

You know, doesnt really matter, it’s all abt MONEY.

Getting on to the NEXTEL from Winston Cup having been mentioned in a post. I’ve never purchased a thing since it switched to NEXTEL. I never cared about some Phone Company in Racing.

As for Nationwide in the Busch Series. That’s Insurance. I just may buy into that, since my family owns an Insurance Company. :)

I sort of like the Beer companies really. Racing is a sport and one tends to think in terms of outdoors or strong products that link well to that sport. Phones are not strong and insurance is not strong.

Smoking and beer is all abt fun, outdoor and party time. That is why Winston and Busch or Bud and Miller go well in Racing.
