ToyotaNASCAR may be ready to slap Toyota with an engine-horsepower penalty on the Nationwide tour after yet another win by the Joe Gibbs team Friday night. It was Dave Rogers’ ninth tour win as crew chief, this time for Denny Hamlin, in a one-two finish with teammate Kyle Busch. It was Gibbs’ 12th Nationwide win in the 18 races so far.

Ford’s Jack Roush said the Toyotas have so much more horsepower than Ford and Chevy that Toyota crews can put more downforce in their cars — with a wider front end — for better handling in the corners because the Toyotas have the horsepower to push that extra drag. “A monkey could drive that car,” Roush said, referring to the Toyota edge.

Jack is such a cry baby, i bet you if he had the edge he wouldnt be crying. Just like back in the day with gordon and evernaham, jack was always accusing them of cheating. Im just curious if “TOYOTA” has som much better equipment how come its only the 20 car that keeps on winning, are you telling me toyota is only giving the 20 car this advantage. Um no i dont think so..

Or how come the 18 keeps winning in cup? I thought the COT was for parity after HMS dominated last year. This year it’s the 18. The 11 and 20 have been good but come into misfortune.
I thought it was Clint Bowyer that said a monkey could drive the car? Now it’s Jack…oh please Jack your cars have been just as good and often fall into bad luck. You had three really good finishes last night! I thought Carl had him.

There is something to the toyotas having more horsepower even vickers and blaney are running up front a lot, but im not complaining thats what racing is about if toyota has found something etc then the rest of the teams need to get to work in the shop and jack really needs to shut up and stop crying really if kenseth had followed edwards last night this wouldnt even be a issue today the 99 more than likely would have won,or for that matter if gordon had stayed on the bottom he’d have probably won not sure what he was thinking.

Or Nascar could allow chevrolet to bring in the
R07 engine so they can be equal with toyota.
    as rick hendrick suggested

Blah Blah Blah, the day NASCAR listens to Jack , Nobody in NASCAR even likes Jack, he is the worst car owner out there. I hate to say it but that marine never should have pulled him out of the water. Ray should have punched him out in NH for accusing him of soaking Jeffs tires.

why dont they bring in the new engine whats the deal with that? If they have it why not use it is there somthing illegal with this new R07??? I dont get it oh well who knows. Jack is a cry baby it sickins me…. Maybe if he stopped crying and got to doing what he needs to do (run his team) the Fords would be better! Glad to see toyota in victory lane sweet!

most people dont even realize that GIBBS dominated last year…it was NOT HMS…Gibbs faltered at the end of the races and JG and JJ were there to clean up the mess…they shouldnt have won half the races they did…not dominance to me…look up the stats of how many times Gibbs was leading with 20 top go and had part failures or fuel pickup failures..etc etc…

as for Toyota having more HP…..it clearly showed it BOTH races this weekend…both leaders LOST the draft BIG TIME and drove back up into by themselves…gimme a break…kyle was 2-3 seconds behind the lead pack when he nearly wrecked…10 laps later hes in the top 20…ALL BY HIMSELF…same goes for Hamlin in the NWS race all the way to back and drove up BY himself…ive never in 15 years of watching Nascar seen 1 car pass the whole field on a restrictor plate race after having lost the draft by that far…..Nascar needs to do something about it…Toyota is good and has talented drivers dont get me wrong…but they do have an unfair advantage with their HP and that has attributed to 90% of their success in both series…

best car ALL last night without ANY adjustments was the 88 BY FAR….had JR had drafting help, he would have been in victory lane…but he wins RP too much so no one helps him at the end…same with Gordon hes getting the same treatment now..and Toyota is gonna end up the same way..so good luck with that

had the race went green last night, Carl Edwards would have been in VL garunteed….enjoy it while it lasts…Nascar WILL do something about it

What does the R07 have to do with this? That is the Chevy engine not the Toyota one.

so in your 15 years of watching racing you must have missed one then, because in 2000 Sr. came 17 spots in 5 laps to win his last plate race at Talladega

and i guess all the plate wins by Mikey and Dale with DEI they must have had more HP too. because Denny didnt do anything different that Dale use to do in the Natonwide series.

  11. 11 George Thompson

Actually plate races are known for drivers being able to pass 20 cars in 5 to 10 laps but Kyle has had a clear advantage over chevy, ford and dodge. We have seen this before like when nascar let elliot run the 351 clevland the year he won the championship but none of rest of the fords were allowed to run it. Then there was Jeff Gordon running spacers behind hios rotors giving him a clear advantage. And lets not forget the year they let Roush have a 100 horsepower advantage.

your completely missing what i was saying…in those races the DEI won, they were upfront the entire race and never lost the draft and they had drafting help…sure they had more HP, there is ALWAYS going to be someone out there better and faster than the others…what im saying is i have NEVER seen 1 car, all by itself, lose the draft by 2-3 seconds like Kyle did last night, and CATCH the field without the slightest bit of help…tell me thats NOT a HUGE advantage….ill bet you if it was a team other than Gibbs who lost the draft like that, they wouldnt have had a prayer in the world to catch back up…Denny did the same thing in the NWS race…

am i whining b/c JGR has more HP, no…they have ALWAYS been good, but this whole toyota thing and the $$$$MILLIONS$$$ they gave to JGR has made them twice as competitive as they were last year…Kudos to them, but nascar built this COT to level the playing field, and it has to some extent…

i am ALL FOR making the cars like the IROC series and letting the 43 drivers duke it out…then we will see who is the best…not whos got the best equipment or most HP

as for Dale SR…he didnt need HP, we was the GOD of RP racing, and there is NO ONE out there going to dispute that…he was a beast when it came to those races and he could win with the worst car on the track..you dont need a fast car to win, you need a fast car PUSHING YOU…not driving by the entire field without one bit of help….we all know this

Yea, Jack’s a whiner, but he does have a point. First yotos in trucks, then Busch, now Cup with the latest and greatest engines. Chevy has to bump their NWide to the R07 but what’s Ford and Dodge to do? Guess France feels he owes it to yotos to let them clean up in NWide and Cup for a year. Jack is spot on about the monkey though… we call him scrub.

The problem is Ford doesn’t want to develop a new engine. Dodge either recently did or is currently working on one. The problem is Ford has always put their Motorsport programs last, they would rather make 10 different ugly and almost identical sedans for their 3 Marques instead of investing in Motorsport. If you look at GM and Toyota no matter what form of Motorsport they have been in they have always treated it as their number one priority and have invested tons of money and resources into it.

A long time ago the Suits at Ford decided they would put all their Motorsport/Performance eggs in three baskets, Jack Roush, Carol Shelby, and Steve Saleen. And look were it has gotten them? Nowhere.

Everyone in NASCAR knows that JGR is cheating. Even that lovable
‘Toyota Whore’ Dale Jarrett talked about it on the broadcast of the race Friday night and said that NASCAR would take their time looking at it and make a decision soon. Enough for me when one of the paid voices squeaks out the truth.

the same way that Roush and Hendricks cheat, and they both got caught!

well Jack the cry baby will really be hurting when the RO7 comes into play, the motor is the only motor ever designed just for Cup racing

    Hello there.
I don’t no a whole lot about the rules and regulations of Nascar. With that in mind and correct me if I’m wrong please. Do the rule and regulation of Nascar not include testing and I mean under a microscope the perameters of how an engine is built. The materials used ect etc etc etc. Now that TOYOTA has followed the same rules set out ny Nascar and is dominating on the track they should be penalized and resrtictor plated.I think the other race teams ought figure out what is needed to produce the same horse power within the specifications of Nascar. I also think they may want to look at whats in there drive way.Just because you race one doesn’t meen you nees to own one. The only thing I can say is better product and definatly better drivers. That being said Bact to the drawing board dodge gm chrysler pontiac chev ford yadda yadda yadda. Grow up wake up and make up you may then possibly catch up to the #1 auto maker in the world
