While I agree with the decision to further test at Darlington considering the speeds achieved there during the recent tire testing, it seems at the same time somewhat ludicrous to 're verify' something they will have no time to change should their 're-verification' turn up a problem.

And, as others have stated, what of Texas? Could ownership of the two facilities be playing a part in some bad decision making on both NASCAR and Goodyear's part?

Sometimes I just have to shake my head in utter disbelief.
Good point Dog, what if the test shows a speed wear problem ?? No time to fix it then. Oh well Nascar/Goodyear will just say they feel it was a positive test and it will all work out...
Get your PR going Boys...

Didn't they used to do this a lot at most tracks back in the day?

Francecar does not like Burton Smith, so anytime he can do something to affect a race at one of his tracks he will do it including less testing.

Texas NOW needs one.
Atlanta is close enough to the same track that having a test in Texas would have been a waste of time.
But from the horrible tire problems and many complaints they now need a test at texas, to see if goodyear fixed the problem, or if they need to work more at it.
And why would it be so hard to do this at Texas, who has specifically asked for more testing time (or anywhere else for that matter)? Seems like any extra time that would help teams get a handle on this tire/car combo would be a good thing!
I was thinking the same thing! These are fast tracks and I want to see a good race. Most of the owners and drivers do not have a fix on this car/tire yet on these types of tracks. So let them test.
