Thanks for the heads up Andrew!  :)

    lol not another shane hmiel

  3. 3 Nascarfan4life24

when are these people going to learn? Stay off the juice people!!! it’s just that simple!!

  4. 4 Justin

Guess what? Tyler Walker and Shane Hmiel hang out together.

  5. 5 marc

Why would you waste your time doing drugs when your given a vehicle to race at over 180 mph weekly. What idiots!!

  6. 6 Paul

Big surprise here, huh? Go do some research. He has talent, yes, but no discipline and that is what has hurt him over the years.

  7. 7 SASSY PANTS

what is there to appeal? i mean would you want some druggie out driving that fast around you? i sure would not. rules are not made to be broken. this is a rule made to save the lives of everyone.

  8. 8 Andrew

No problem, just trying to be a good aid to the site. But seriously, Tyler Walker just doesnt know what a great opportunity he has let go. Its like that song ‘you dont know what you’ve got till its gone’. Now all he can race is ARCA and lesser series like that. And when (if) he gets reinstated, he is going to have a tough time making it back.

  9. 9 Axel Foley

Andie, what was he prescribed then? Give us the facts if you’re his friend and he’s innocent.

No employer would ever fire anyone for having a metabolite of a drug in their body if they have proof of a prescription, but I don’t think they’ll accept any prescription for cocaine, meth or weed no matter what doctor wrote it for them. Also, I wouldn’t want to be driving side by side at 190 with someone even if they were on prescription codeine. NASCAR has seemed pretty lenient about their substance abuse policy in the past… Hell, they even gave Shane Hmiel a second chance but he blew it.

Also, from every single thing I’ve ever heard in the past NASCAR doesn’t randomly test… They only do it if there is suspicion or a legitimate reason. Sounds like they busted your boy.

Anyone take into effect that everyday we drive a car there is a potential that the person next to us is drunk/on drugs? I really dont think there is a difference between NASCAR and the real world when it comes to a situation like this. Its wrong in both aspects. And I feel NASCAR has done the right thing in this case, unless Tyler can clear his name and provide facts that it isnt an illegal substance there is nothing to appeal.

But there are certain things in this world that can show up as a drug in someones system. Shoot, if you eat to many poppy seeds it will show up as opium in the blood work from my understanding.

  11. 11 Nicholas

Yeah, Shane messed up pretty bad, and i think Tyler did too. If it was really a doctor perscribed load of B.S., then he wouldn’t have been suspended so fast, they would have looked into it first.

  12. 12 HoppyGirllllllll

It’s not nice to call people names Andie? Weren’t you the one who started off your
first comment by calling everyone “losers?” Hmm……

Stay off the crack pipe, Tyler.

  13. 13 strech

yea tru. shane was a dumass. i kno every racecar driver in the whole country was pissed wen he got all those chances to come back. it is possible to get a fake readin on a test but they really dont sell bread wit poppey seeds that much anymore. it still possible tho. i think nascar said they would do mor random testin for it. but jus cuz they say it dont really mean much. i think he screwed up but we’ll see wat happens.

  14. 14 Axel Foley

I agree, Andie, but is being called “Shane Hmiel” really that slanderous? :)

Poppy seeds can cause a false positive for opiates but its easy to isolate what it is exactly with further lab tests. As stupid as NASCAR seems sometimes I bet they took their time… I’ve had my own run ins with tox screenings… He would have the ability to file a nice little lawsuit if NASCAR wasn’t right on this one. We all know how NASCAR is with their money.

Like Nicholas said, if he had a prescription do you really think NASCAR would have taken it this far?

I remember watching Tyler race sprint cars just a few years ago.
I’m very happy that he’s made it to NASCAR if
    even in the truck series.

We’ve all complained this entire year about how NASCAR officials
have been too quick to jump and fine—now haven’t we!!

This is Tyler’s fight with NASCAR and if he chooses to appeal
it (and I hope he does and wins the appeal) he will.

I will say this much for the Tyler Walker I met a few years ago…
Tyler is a very high spirited talented racecar driver. He has
more zeal for the sport than most guys much older and more
experienced than he is. I would LOVE to see him fight and
win the appeal and climb the ladder to Nextel Cup league.

I know Nascar officials have been real assholes this year and
would NOT doubt that they didn’t look into if this drug was
    prescribed or not!!

  16. 16 mare

…I’m surprised I aint heard comments on how
other drivers have made it back to nascar after such
    an injunction.

unfortunately; the majority of them were later tested positive again
and lost their rides and any hope of anyother rides ever in the future.

any driver who is using dangerous drugs while racing DOES need
correction, but i do believe manditory drug rehab for a decent
period of time is the best sentencing for first time dirty testers.

  17. 17 Andrew

Kevin Grubb tried to make a come back, although it was with an underfunded team. It is really hard to come back after something like this happens to your career. I dont see how it can be appealed, the margin of error for the test would have to be below .01 percent.

  18. 18 gigolo george

About 20 years ago, a Cup driver failed a piss test too. They jumped all over him. Even guys that were known cokeheads pounced on him. It was bizarre. They said drug users didn’t belong in NASCAR or even race cars for that matter. That fact rings true to this day. Everyone put their 2 cents in. Then the truth came out. He was on medications, that when mixed together, made him fail the test. They wanted this scumbag banned from NASCAR for life. They wanted him to come clean about his drug use. It turned out that the driver had AIDS. His name was Tim Richmond. He died at a short time later. Now he’s known as a great driver and the reason the #25 car is cursed. I’m not saying Tyler’s situation is like Tim’s, but he should come clean. A driver on drugs is a lethal weapon. Tell us the truth Tyler. NASCAR fans and Americans can be very forgiving. Just don’t lie to us.

  19. 19 Glenstapo

Andie, I hope you make a soft landing in your beliefs that Tyler is innocent. For those of us who have been around users and addicts, we’ve heard all the unlikely stories of strange coincidences and back-room conspiricies. Fact is, NASCAR has no current reason to frame a guy or be stupid about how they levy sactions. It’s Occum’s Razor, my dear, and Tyler ends up on the cutting room floor in this one.

Here’s for best wishes that he faces his troubles and gets back on track with his life.

  20. 20 Cadillac

Can’t any of you spell or punctuate?

  21. 21 Teresa

dude, so some of the drivers smoke a little pot like most everybody. it’s not a safety issue, it’s a PR issue. personally, i don’t smoke and i don’t think it’s a big deal. he parties. woo. i’d rather come across a stoner than a drunk driver.

  22. 22 Andie

Thats what I’m Talking about!! How Come It Is Ok For Kurt Busch and Michael Waltrip to endager peoples lives directly with abusing alcohol and drinking & driving, and they only get a slap on the wrist??All I know is that if Shane Hmiel got a second chance then Tyler better get one too!!This is BS How the media blows everything out of proportion, until they have all the facts:(BOOOO!!!Then we get these Haters above that think they are so much better?!?!?No one is perfect, how would you all feel if the stalkarazzi was always up your A$$ questioning your personal life??I think the media needs to back off before Tony’s words become actions and all the other drivers follow, this is getting so ridiculous, no wonder alot of the nascar superstars ignore the fans and media, look how they treat them?!?

  23. 23 Axel Foley

Everyone bashed Kurt and Michael too… I honestly think there are some people in the world who shouldn’t be allowed to drive sober. Back in the day there was a driver, I can’t remember his name, but he often had a container (from the stories I read) in the car with him full of mixed up vodka and tomato juice that he sipped during races… I think that was actually pretty cool just because he was doing things his way. bash me for thinking that, but we all have our opinions. Still, a drunk race car driver could be dangerous, considering how pissed anyone could get driving a 800 horsepower car in traffic, even sober… Or a driver after a night of snorting lines… Look at Shane Hmiel at Bristol…

If NASCAR is to be considered a sport they can’t have drivers on the track with any type of substance altering their thinking… Legal or not… Caffeine and alcohol are borderline if you ask me.

NASCAR does have its policy. We all know it, the drivers do especially.

I don’t think anyone was really bashing this dude, Andie. Just making light of the situation which in the scheme of things is very minor. If you wanna be in NASCAR you gotta play by their rules, as with anything. If not then Tyler and Shane Hmiel could start their own racing series…

  24. 24 HoppyGirllllllll

ooo….I don’t think I have been called a brat in like 20 years…..what’s next, are you going
to call me a butthead? You get points at least for being original. And if he’s innocent, why
would he need a second chance? Perhaps you should re-read your first posting, correct the spelling
and grammical errors, and then post a logical comment. Apparantly you don’t know what he had
in his system, you seem the type to “name drop” about things like that. And this was published
two days ago - if he’s innocent, where is the appeal? Do you really not think that NASCAR covers
every avenue before releasing a statement like that? It happened on the May 18th, almost two weeks ago.
More than enough time for an appeal to be started.

Also, someone please send me the link on Waltrip driving drunk, as Andie pointed out I have obviously missed it.

    ok my bad

  27. 27 Anonymous

Hoppy, it was the article about his reckless driving… There is no hard evidence he was drunk… Just circumstantial. As much as I like Michael it seems like a likely scenario none the less.

  28. 28 Breanna Crooker

He put every driver he raced against while under the influence in
mortal danger, and you’re defending him. Why? How, is actually a
    better question.

  29. 29 HoppyGirllllllll

Sounds like someone should check their facts before posting!! I knew I hadn’t missed a “Waltrip
    drunk driving” story.

  30. 30 Andie

**HERE YOU GO “MISS I THINK I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT NASCAR” HOPPY**
**YOUR TELLING ME WALTRIP WASN’T DRUNK? HA HA HA!!

CHARLOTTE — A season of on-track embarrassments for Nextel Cup driver Michael Waltrip has spilled off the track.

    Michael Waltrip
    Waltrip

The two-time Daytona 500 champion was charged early Saturday morning with reckless driving and failure to report an accident after hitting a telephone pole and rolling his car on Molly’s Backbone Road in Catawba County.

“I am really embarrassed about the accident, but I feel fortunate that I wasn’t hurt,” Waltrip said in a statement released by Michael Waltrip Racing. “For 25 years I have had a great driving record. I consider myself to be a courteous and safe driver on public roads.

  31. 31 Andie

WHY WOULD WALTRIP LEAVE THE SCENE WITHOUT REPORTING IF HE WASN’T HIGH OR DRUNK??

  32. 32 Paige

Tyler Walker has and always will be a great driver, although I do find it funny that someone would market him as a “Bad Boy” then be surprised when stuff like this occurs!!!! go figure
