NASCAR Shuffles 2007 TV Schedule-Brickyard to be on ESPN
Quote selected text Published July 28th, 2006 in NASCAR NewsA significant piece of the 2007 Nextel Cup Series schedule fell into place Friday when Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced that next year’s Allstate 400 will be held on July 29. That’s a week earlier that what has been the date for NASCAR’s race at the historic Indy track. The move was made primarily to allow ESPN to begin its portion of the ‘07 with the summer’s biggest race.
Beginning next year, Fox will air the first 13 Cup races. TNT will then air six races. ESPN will then have six before its corporate partner, ABC, does the final 11 races. In recent years, the season’s 20th race has been a July event at Pocono Raceway. By shuffling Indy, Pocono and an open weekend, however, next year that 20th event will be the Allstate 400.
Next year’s race at Indianapolis will be the first Cup race to air on ESPN since 2000.
