Kentucky SpeedwayNASCAR officials said Friday not to expect a Sprint Cup Series date at Kentucky Speedway in 2009. “I don’t see any scenario where there could be a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in Kentucky in 2009, regardless of ownership,” NASCAR communications director Ramsey Poston said.

Kentucky Speedway founder Jerry Carroll said in a phone interview Friday that he is unhappy with the decision and had contacted his attorneys to fight it.

“This is what bullies do and it’s been going on too long,” Carroll said. “They’ve showed their hand again. If they want to break us and want to run us out of business, get more creative.”

Bruton Smith, the Speedway Motorsports Inc. owner, announced Thursday that he had purchased the Kentucky track, located halfway between Cincinnati and Louisville, with the intention of having a Cup race there next season.

Well if Bruton gets his hands on Pocono they will have no choice then to give Kentucky it’s race lol.

We will see just how far this old man will go this time. unlike Texas where he had a stockholder file the lawsuit against NASCAR. this one is all his . He is in his 80s and i think he is looking for a fight. i dont think he will get a very big one out of Brian and Jim, they do not want their dirty laundry aired in front of the media.but i do think he will have a date in 2009 in Kentucky.

I say this if he wants a Cup date at that track then add the seats you plan to add if the Cup series was there, and sell out all races that are held at that track for 3 years and THEN MAYBE NASCAR would considered letting that track have the privilege of hosting a cup date.
