NASCAR rejects proposed paint schemes for the No. 31

NASCAR has rejected proposed paint schemes featuring AT&T’s “Go Phone” and the AT&T Mobility tagline “More Bars in More Places” as AT&T seeks a way to remain on the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing car, according to AT&T.
AT&T, in a motion filed today in U.S. District Court asking the court to expedite another preliminary injunction hearing, called NASCAR’s actions “unreasonable and vindictive” and indicated that its Go Phone scheme was similar to one used in May 2005.
“NASCAR insisted that not only must AT&T Mobility remove the ‘AT&T’ name and logo immediately, but also that AT&T Mobility feature the very name, ‘Cingular,’ that AT&T Mobility has spent millions of dollars removing from the marketplace,” AT&T states in its motion.
NASCAR disputes it is being vindictive, and NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said a Go Phone scheme with Cingular marks was approved in 2005 and could still be used.
“NASCAR has approved multiple paint schemes for the 31, including a Cingular Go Phone scheme,” Poston said. “The 31 has many, many options from which to choose. This is about living up to the agreements that were made.
“In 2003 we made an agreement with RCR to keep its sponsor in the series. We believe that agreement should be honored. Finally, remember that Sprint Nextel benefits all competitors and we have a contractual obligation on behalf of the industry to protect the exclusivity.”

A$$CAR being vindictive, WOW what a shocker.
At this point I think they would approve a picture of a outhouse with Uncle Cracker in it on the pace car before they would deal with ATT/RCR RACING
Is Sprint so afraid of a little competion, that they will spend
hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to keep the AT&T logo
out of nascar? Sounds a little chicken s–t!!!!!
yeah they are affraid that they will lose business thats why they are doing this and that it is a bunch of b.s. that they are doing this
They’re losing more business by doing this than they would if they just let AT&T stay.
just sad what nascar has become its just about to the point of not worth watching WORLD OF OUTLAWS PUTS ON A BETTER SHOW ANY WAY
Check this out. they should put a completely white decal over the entire 31 car and under the 1st pit stop yank it off and the car would have ATT as big as the door numbers all over it. Whats nascar gonna do , black flag them for a bad paint job? Bunch of losers.
Ok, here’s what needs to happen. I know we all love racing, and love our guys driving in the Cup series, but we need to all quit watching and buying tickets. Yes, I’m talking about a boycott. And then, once that happens, if it were to happen, the drivers need to say, “screw NASCAR!” and move on to another series. Hell, turn the Arca Remax series into what is now the Cup series. In my opinion, NASCAR has had their reign, and now they have ruined what is racing. I already have tickets for Talledaga, after that, I’m done. I hope somebody from NASCAR reads this, maybe they will see what theyt have done. Everything they are doing right now is completely ridiculous, especially with RCR and AT&T/Cingular! I don’t know, maybe you all don’t feel the same, but I’m doing it regardless, and I suggest you do the same. A good old fashioned boycott solves a lot!
Sorry, just wanted to add to what I previously said. Not only the drivers, but the team owners and teams all need to pack up and leave NASCAR and head on over to Arca or some other series, or hell, just start up another series. I realize that it’s hard to do, and it may take soem tiem, but it would be worth the wait and money well spent to screw NASCAR over and start fresh. It’s just too bad NASCAR has come to be what they are now, it’s really a shame.
It worked with USAC-CART split till the IRL came about.
