NASCAR pulls Harvick & Montoya into hauler for meeting, tempers still high

Juan Pablo Montoya made a trip to the NASCAR hauler today at Michigan International Speedway. The other guy in attendance there? Kevin Harvick. “Yeah, we went, both of us. And they said you know, you gotta be careful guys, because that’s the limit of things you can do,” Montoya said.
NASCAR did not penalize either driver for their on-track tiff at Watkins Glen, an incident that continues to simmer between Harvick and Montoya. Montoya said he did not attempt to call Harvick and mend fences. “No, if I would have done something wrong, I would,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Harvick reiterated his critical comments about the Nextel Cup rookie, saying, “He drives like he doesn’t know what he’s doing, to be honest with you.”
Montoya’s response?
“If I didn’t know what I was doing I wouldn’t have won Indy 500, CART championship, Formula One races. So, I’m pretty comfortable with what I’ve done. When it’s been my fault before … we got together at Daytona and it was my fault, I even called him and said, ‘Hey, I’m sorry.’”

Montoya is the man!! harvick needs to grow up and stop whining.Montoya doesn’t know what he’s doing?? thats why he won at sonoma, got second at indy, he’s a terrific driver, it’s not his fault that during his first full time season they switch from normal cars to the cars of tomorrow on him. If the change wasn’t hard enough from open wheel road corses to the majority being ovals he has to deal with the cars changing. I think he’s doing great and love the fact that he’s a foreign driver in the cup. Don’t be jealous guys!!

Ahhh, but his resume does matter. Why start a career in karting, sprint cars, mods, open-wheel or other racing sport if it doesn’t matter? It’s what helps you get a ride. Ohh, and look, he just added a win on his resume for winning at Sonoma. Might just help him get a job with RCR after his 5 year contract with Ganassi.
You watch , Nascar says they dont like drivers acting like this , but they’ll use it in self promoting commercials for upcoming races. How many times has that Jeff Gordon pushing Matt kenseth spot been shown?

I can respect what Montoya has did with his career,but to be honest he’s been a jack *ss to everybody. Especially his own crew chief in the busch series. He may know how to win but he’ll make alot of enemies in doing so. Look back at race busch race in Mexico, he wrecked his own team-mate Scott Pruett. I just think he needs to wake up and realize that he will have to see deal with other drivers in nascar alot more than other driver in the different series he’s raced in. If he starts tickin everybody off now,they will ostly keep wrecking him in the future.

Someone please refresh my memory…wasn’t JG fined for the Bristol incident with Kenseth??? Why are the powers to be at NASCAR hesitant to place any sort of suspension or fine on JPM??? Cause he’ll scream “racism” undoubtedly. He IS a dirty driver and Cup drivers aren’t willing to give into his bs.
Someone mentioned earlier that they “love the fact he’s a foreign driver”. Do you recall after his Mexico City victory (that was only possible after wrecking a teammte) he directly thanked, “the Mexican fans”??

On another note…I myself am not a huge RG fan, but after the way he was sh*t upon by NASCAR in the Canadian race eh, I’d sure like to see RG put JPM in the fence hard, and go on to win the race.
I hope this is proof that NASCAR realized they shouldn’t have fined Gordon for pushing Kennseth at Bristol.

1. NOBODY has said that JPM caused the accident.
2. KH didn’t start the fight, JPM was the first to initiate physical contact.
3. JPM IS a dirty driver, he’s proven that time and time again.

Umm, watch the tape, Harvick puts his right hand on Montoya’s helmet first, then Montoya places his on Harvick’s. Gordon’s shove on Kenseth was a hard one and looked more like a instigation, nothing like Montoya and Harvick’s sissy shoves. What other fans do driver’s thank when they are in foreign land? I think the race in Mexico was filled with Mexican fans and all he did was thank them. And what’s with crying “racism”? Pfft, you think he hasn’t heard remarks about his race from narrow minded fans? I don’t think you understand what even happened between Montoya and Harvick issue. I frankly believe it was a racing incident. I look at things from the entire spectrum, that is why I don’t blame Truex while you waste your time on blaming Montoya and posting lame stuff as “go back where you came from”. Like I said before, Montoya has no doubt heard the comments of “this is an American sport,” and you know what, it’s true and since we’re in America, as long as things are done legally, everyone has a right for that American dream, regardless of their nationality. Narrow minded? I don’t think so.
If you dislike Montoya, like myself, that is your option, I have nothing against that.
Harvick has a short memory, he took out Scott Purett in the #41 in Canada that brought out the caution and the worst of Robby Gordon. Did Harvick make any excuses as to his stupid driving to ram right into #41? No so why should Montoya worry about Harvicks whiny crap?

OK enough. Sure Motoya is a big shot in other places but NASCAR fans dont give a rats arse about that. Yeah he won Sonoma, but only because the guys that had good cars ran out of gas. Indy and the 2nd place LUCK. top cars went out, Jr blew up, harvick got damage by Tony, Johnson destroyed his carand Kahne was out early. Juan ha been lucky to get his finishes in NASCAR and personally i dont see him lasting long.
I’m going to type slow so some of you can keep up. Juan Pablo is from Columbia…not Mexico. Its on a totally different contenient. You probably live closer to Mexico than he does. As for his driving , he is pretty close to out of control , just like Tony , Robby or Kevin…you know , most of the drivers that make Nascar intresting. But as Hunker said , Kevin ran over Scott Pruett in Canada and doesnt have any right to talk about someone elses driving. Stuff happens on the road courses and running into each other is part of it. Thats part of road course racing.

The accident was all a misunderstanding. It wasn’t like JPM meant to hit KH, JPM was tapped and lost control of his car which ended up hitting KH. It wasn’t like EITHER ONE OF THEM COULD DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. This is NASCAR, this is what happens. Most people watch it simply for moments like this.

I guess we should not let Tony drive stock cars because he started in the IRL with those dang foreigners. For the record I live in the south as far south as you can get in Texas I am a race car driver, and white. I like seeing some of the foreign drivers running the stock cars why, because I like good racing. I did expect JPM to be doing better by now, but that is neither here nor there. When racing feathers get ruffled and feuds start, as long as no one gets hurt NASCAR should let it be, but if it really starts getting out of hand then intervene. JMO

JPM is one of TWO drivers in the WORLD to win the Indy,Cart, Nascar, 24 Hour Lemans and Daytona, and a F1 race. That is ONE of TWO in the Whole World. Andretti was the other.
As for wreaking people , Dale Sr. took out Terry Labonte more than once to win a race. Rusty did the same think at Bristol too. Cal took out Allison at Daytona are they are bad drivers. No they were some of the bet drivers ever in the sport. Open your eyes people. it is racing.
I bet if Jeff , Jimmy or Jr. took out Kurt or Kyle to win a race you all would be saying “its just racing”.
