Phoenix TV ratings share match 2007: Fox’s broadcast of last Saturday night’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway earned a final Nielsen Media Research rating of 4.4 and an 8 market share, Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Daily reports.
The rating matches the 4.4 Fox earned last year, but the market share dropped from a 9 in 2007 to an 8 in 2008.
- COT no fun for most of the Nextel Cup field
- NASCAR overall TV ratings down 2nd straight year
- Despite ESPN’s bullish predictions, NASCAR TV ratings continue to decline
- Martinsville NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series ratings up 18 percent on SPEED
- NASCAR admits stagnant phase

If I remember correctly only one race as been below last years number, and the rest have been the same or a little better.
Considering people thought the COT would make ratings go down and considering they have been going down up to last year, this may be a sign that NASCAR has reached its hight and is now leveling out and becoming stable in forms of popularity.
Then why are so many sponsors cutting back or droping out all together ??
Is it like the Petty or Waltrip’s or other poor runing teams that sponsors are tired of not getting there moneys worth out off OR do they see the big picture. NASCAR has peaked and all things that go up MUST come down…
Do not get me wrong, Im a FAN of Racing but I can tell you things at Daytona Headquarters are not looking as bright as they once used to…
Well the fact that the price of everything has been going up including the price of important things that these companies HAVE to spend money on, and when ever Companies have to spend money on important things they cut back their advertising budget. And remember you can call it sponsorship or whatever you want, but the companies all see it as advertising and the money for it comes out of their advertising budget.
Plus think about it, We should be glad that NASCAR peaked now instead of a while from now, or it might have ended up like AOW. AOW had a nice steady growth, and then shot up in popularity and it Broke and took 12 years to fix, and they didn’t even fix it right. I’d rather have NASCAR Level out and even go down in popularity before it gets too big for its own good and egos get in the way and it breaks…….
