Sure they (Toyota) have an advantage, why would'nt they. Their engine was engineered with 21st century tech. While the other manufactures are limited to the parts NASCAR currently approves. There are better parts available to the other manufacures that the teams would love to run. NASCAR tries to maintain a level playing field in part to keep the smaller teams competetive, and part to provide closer racing ( i.e. the gear rule.) For the come latelys, NASCAR has been managing it's business forever. It is a business. To think NASCAR is singling out Toyota is an opinion based on opinion. If you're really a fan read some NASCAR history. It's full of banned engines, banned body styles and "unapproved" engine and chassis parts. Does JGR have an advantage. Sure does, over the other Toyota teams as well. How long do you think it'll be before all the Toyota teams are running JGR engines. Thats why the small Ford and Chevy teams buy their engines from the super teams. Money buys horsepower, peroid. I'm guessing that the magnets under the gas pedals were a poor mans cruse control, get real.
First off I own a Toyota Camry and like Toyota and have no problem with them being in NASCAR.

However, I don't have on Toyota goggles and act like Toyota doesn't have an edge.

1. It is obvious that Toyota has a HP edge and NASCAR has kissed their butt.

2. NASCAR let Toyota know a week before that they were pulling engines so of course Toyota was ready, and yes Kyle doing a burnout and hitting high RPM's in the mud could have really reduced HP. ( and yes if I was him I would have burnt the motor up myself knowing it was getting pulled.)

3. To say that HMS dominated last year and nothing being done about it is erroneus because this is all about Nationwide not Cup, and HMS did not dominate Nationwide.

4. The dyno's also showed that HMS didn't have a big HP advantage over other teams last year like Toyota does. HMS had the other stuff to go along with it, hence the reason that JGR is the only team dominating with the Toyota HP.
#1, Nascar hasn't kissed Toyotas butt, Toyota & Toyota teams have been busy doing their homework and figuring stuff out, unlike the other 3 manufactures...
About your #2... I don't even have a comeback for a comment that stupid.
#3/4. If you go back and read everyones opinion on the Toyota issue, people are saying it about Cup too. I don't believe for a second HP has alot to do with anyone winning. Look at the test results. Everyone is just pissed off that Gibbs figured something out that the other 3 haven't yet. Everything is passing inspection every week before and after the races. And those who think like Clint 'Im just jealous' Bowyer is nothing but a sore loser. Harvick ran away with it in '06 and Edwards last year. Toyota was a joke when they came in last year, but now that they are doing good for themselves, everyone is getting pissed...

well look at it this way, the same issue is going on in swimming right now (bare with me, i was a swimmer for 10 years... its still racing.. just not auto but it all ties in)

there is a new suit made by speedo out there and every last record except for 2 has been broken since it was released. The other nations that are not using speedo brand suits are all up in a fuss about the unfair advantage in the new suit (its an 800$ swimsuit thats good for 5 races max)

the results are not in on what is going to happen with it but the Olympic committee is considering not allowing those suits during the Olympics because of the unfair advantage.

as for how i feel? Conflicted. I am sure if it was my driver i would be telling everyone to stop whining (or at least not toyota)

on the other hand if they made it this way by making the cars "spec" cars instead of stock cars.

So because Toyota and JGR have done there homework there going to be penalized...thats real racing. It kills me how JGR has a moto. Family first, god 2nd, and racing 3rd, and yet we spend tons of time working and doing there homework and everyone wants us to be limited! Go figure.
I have a question for everybody...

At a given race, with a great driver, would you rather have...

The best handling car or the car with the strongest motor?

I would take the one that handles any day. This isn't so much a Toyota thing. It's a Gibbs thing. But since Gibbs races Toyotas, everyone has to complain until NASCAR makes a dumb rule to fix it.

Gibbs is better this year, they don't have an advantage, they are just better.

NASCAR just gave the other teames the advantage.
First of all there are only maybe a half dozen racers driving today that are in the great category.
Second of all JGR has figured something out with the front end that no one else has figured out and along with the extra HP they have produced a winning combination.
Third, not all the Toyota teams run the same motors, so MWR might have a hard time the rest of the year. The Generation 2 motor that they debuted this season has a bigger cylinder bore than any of the other makes so the new tapered plate was justified
George,

I dont understand how can you penalize 1 team for finding horsepower and not another. Whos to say toyotas front clip isnt bad and we just havent seen it yet cause the field has been leveld with the horsepower. Dodge has a significant amount of horsepower over ford and chevy and they have yet to walk away with anything , this is just nascar penalizing a manufactuer for a team who is on there game, this wasnt a penalty against toyota but they have penalized jgr, there are plenty more toyotas in the series and because one team does good nascar penalizes all of them
You did not take time to read as usual, i did not say anything about penalties instead i stated that JGR found something and the other teams will figure it out and if you take away horse power from dodge that will cause problems for the entire field since their too slow already.

Well its goes like this, it is what it is. You can watch the sport and follow your driver no matter what the white shirts decide is good or not good for the sport and if he wins he wins, if not don't whine about it because the white shirts are going to decide who wins anyway. If you like the idea of watching a sport that whoever has the most money wins then your not a true race fan because real racing isn't about technology and money its about the ability to turn the wheel and lay on the gas. All the real racers are gone or not racing anymore anyway so your just watching a bunch of overpaid drivers that cant make it at there saturday night short tracks.

Barbara is your cousin? Wow, I remember her and when it happened. Met her a couple of times, nice girl. I still have her memorial stuff.
I’m from Peekskill/Yorktown, now in Az.

Yeah she was my cousin. Its sucks because i was only 13 at the time, but i hear the “accident” she was in may not have been an accident at all. I hear the boyfriend was jelous of her success.

there was a race on her the day she died 10 years ago, they did a wonderful tribute to her at OC. I dont have any memorial stuff of hers unfortunately, only pictures from us at lake george.

I bought and still have the memorial/races they did for her after she died, is there a way I could get you a copy? And if I remember right, didn’t her father race also?

Well, well, well. What an uproar over NASCAR
acting on their Dictatorship!!! They will do what
their little pea brains tell them what is best for
competition and $$$ in the bank... What a
shame that competition has to be controlled in a sport that is supposed to be "pure competition"
just for the best interest of the powers that be!!!

Why is everyone freaking out?
Nascar goes through cycles like this.
Just recently we had Roush dominance in 2005
RCR did very well in 2006 after being no where
along with kasey kahne
And 2007 was Hendricks year while kasey kahne struggled.
Its the ups and downs and it cycles regularly. The others will
catch up eventually

Damn so they 20 car which is the car everyone was complaining about dominating and its 4th on the list lol that just proves to all you whiners that theres more to it then just horsepower, why would any other manufactuer even want to come to this series when they see they will be penalized for doing what the series is about and thats winning, good job nascar grab toyota by the hand and hold them back until the other less fortunate teams can catch up, pretty soon we are going to equal the special olympics, with the way nascar has to BABY teams
