Morgan Shepherd and the Faith Motorsports team pulled out and headed south Thursday afternoon, just in time to pull through the gates at the Homestead-Miami Speedway at daybreak Friday morning.
The team’s efforts will be supported by minor sponsorships from Gulf Coast Filters of Gulfport, MS, RaceZingMania of Crested Butte, CO, and Amtek Signs of Indiana. Shepherd said an additional $6,000 to $10,000 needs to be raised just to cover expenses for the weekend trip.

That only covers the expenses of qualifying. If he does make the race, he won’t have enough to actually race and that hurts the guys who do have enough but might have a bad qualifying run. It’s a shame that this is allowed. Start a race and claim a problem after a lap or 2 and park it.
