Montoya’s pole disqualified, Johnson inherits pole

Less than an hour after Juan Pablo Montoya celebrated his first NASCAR Sprint Cup pole, it was taken away from him because of a technical violation.
NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said Montoya’s fast lap was disqualified because a postqualifying inspection discovered his rear shock absorbers exceeded the maximum gas pressure allowed.
That moved two-time reigning Cup champion Jimmie Johnson up to the pole, with Montoya’s No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing Dodge moved to 42nd in the 43-car field for Sunday’s race at Kansas Speedway.
It was a blow to Montoya, 24th in the season points and struggling most of the year to be competitive.
Neither Montoya nor the Ganassi team had any immediate comment.

My guess is this won’t be Montoya’s last pole. If he drives for a stronger team, he’ll probably win many.

…Every person is entitled to an opinion…for me I seem to see that Nascar always throws a ” Hendrick Caution” A chance for the them to keep the lead…i.e Slowing (braking) the field down then speeding off or jumping the restart…

The only ones who would benefit from the old point system is Kyle and Dale Jr. Ilke that they are so far behind. that was a great ending at Kansas. Racin the way it should be.

Your right, although I do thinks it a lil early to start putting names on the trophy as we have seen anyone can have bad luck and multiple people can have bad luck as the 3 JGR cars have had so those 3 in the lead although unlikely it is possible.
