BAM Racing is pleased to welcome NASCAR veteran driver and former Craftsman Truck Series Champion Mike Bliss as driver of the No. 49 Dodge for the remainder of the 2006 season beginning this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.
Bliss joins BAM Racing in light of the recent restructuring efforts of the team. Recently, David Hyder returned to the team as crew chief and WhatsOnline.com joined BAM Racing as a repeat primary sponsor for 2006 and 2007.
“I’m excited to have this opportunity with BAM Racing and to return to racing in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series,” commented Bliss. “This team is making great strides in preparing for the 2007 season and I am happy to be part of the process. As one of the few single-car teams, the challenges we face are greater than those of multi-car teams but so are the rewards. I look forward to being a part of the team that is being assembled by BAM Racing.”
Bliss, a Milwaukie, Ore. native, has built an impressive resume across NASCAR’s three elite divisions. He has captured wins in both the Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series, including a championship title. In the Nextel Cup Series, Bliss has earned one top-five and five top-10 finishes since his series debut in 1998.
Bliss will be making his first Nextel Cup Series start of the 2006 season this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. He has four starts at the track with an average starting position of 28.0 and average finish of 25.2 at the 2.66-mile tri-oval with one top-10 finish.
“We are pleased to have Mike Bliss behind the wheel of the BAM Racing Dodge,” said team co-owner Beth Ann Morgenthau. “Our team has been in a restructuring period for weeks now. As we look to the future, we feel that Mike has the determination and enthusiasm it takes to be successful. The final races of this season are important building blocks for us and Mike will be an integral part of our continued reorganization.”
