Mears to switch to the No 5, Earnhardt, Jr to the ‘No 25′

Hendrick driver Casey Mears will move to the No. 5 team next year from the 25 as Hendrick makes room for Dale Earnhardt, Jr in 2008.
Although Earnhardt said in June he had agreed to a five-year deal to drive for Hendrick starting next season, many details still had to be settled. He’s technically replacing Kyle Busch on the Hendrick roster but won’t be stepping into Busch’s ride.
Mears, who drives the No. 25, will move into Busch’s seat, with Alan Gustafson the crew chief.
Earnhardt will instead fill the slot at the No. 25, although that’s not likely to be his car number.

i wonder if jr. knew this all along, or did he think he was going to get the five. many people have said the 25 car is “cursed”, and it is certainly the weakest of the four teams. looks like jr. is going to get the one hendrick car that is slower than his current ride. i hope rick can get that team going, if he doesn’t jr. nation will be out for his head.

I LOVE KASEY AND JR I SUPPORT THEM NO MATER WHAT THEY DRIVE. I WISH THEM BOTH LUCK I KNOW THEY WILL DO GOOD NEXT YEAR..
If you think for one second that Jr will have the same caliber cars that the 25 runs right now, you’re nuts. NUTS. That’s all I will say. See you in Daytona for the 500. MAN is it gonna be a great race on so many levels.

Hendrick is a Very Smark Business man. He knows where the money comes from in Racing. Earnhardt and Gordon, Period………………………
Dont think for one Secone Jr’s car will be anything less than 110% perfect………………….
As for Championships. I know Hendrick will do everything possible to help Jr Win A Championship, same as he has done for Gordon and Johnson.. That is why the man is in the business of Racing…

If Hendrick can make Gordon and Johnson a Champion, Jr has one in the books……………..
So forget the Car number and color, focus on the driver and racing…
It’s not the number.. it’s that it has the worst equipment out of the Hendrick bunch. Unless he gets that team into shape for next year.. don’t see why not.
