Mears or Truex the most likely choices for RCR

Richard Childress is still looking for the right driver to add to his Cup team. He said earlier this year that Richard Childress Racing plans to add a fourth Cup driver for next season, joining Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton and Clint Bowyer. But the search has dragged on longer than Childress expected.
“You’ve got to find the right person,” Childress said Sunday. “You don’t want to mess up the other three (teams). But we’re still working on it and I think we’ll get it done in the next couple of weeks.”
Two of the leading candidates for the RCR ride appear to be Casey Mears, who will leave Hendrick Motorsports at the end of the season, and Martin Truex Jr., whose future at Dale Earnhardt Inc. remains up in the air.
- Mears wins pole at Chicagoland
- Truex, Jr ready to race with broken toe
- Johnson didn’t get message Mears was pitting
- Truex starts contract discussions with DEI
- Truex to drive for JR Motorsports at Bristol

Id rather see truex join stewart but RCR would be a good fit for him
I wonder how truex going to rcr would affect his friendship with tei?
It looks more like Truex is staying at DEI in the #1 car, Newman to Stewart-Haas Racing and I’ve even heard that Mears might be in a second car at petty enterprises with Kyle Petty running a limited schedule in a third car (#45) at Petty Enterprises, so there must be another driver for the 4th RCR car, I’m almost thinking Scott Wimmer, but I would rather see him in the #29 full-time in the Nationwide Series.
Who’s left besides Riggs?

who really cares about TEI….seriously lol…they are gonna go under if Truex leaves…cause smith is already gonna be gone b/c of lack of sponsorship….and Menard is rumored to be going to Yates….so screw TEI they messed up when they let JR go…but JR Nation aint complaining…2nd in pts is way better than 18th
as for RCR….Truex woudl be a better fit…Mears is a waste in a stock car…he belongs in open wheel like his father…he couldnt even do anythign in some of the best equipment…whats gonna happen if he ends up at PETTY or RCR….hes gonna run even worse
I’ve said it thousands of times before.
Casey Mears will drive the 4th RCR car
General Mills already said they liked him as a representative
of their company…so its good to go
Truex would be a good fit. He’s won Busch Championships, a Cup race, he’s a Chase kind of guy and sponsors like him. He’s not an underachiever like the kid living off his uncle’s name and reputation.
Well, it looks like the ride is Mears’ now. Since Truex signed a STUPID extension with TEI.
