The crew chiefs of the Busch Series teams for Casey Mears and Brad Keselowski have both been fined $10,000 and placed on probation through the end of the year for rule violations at Texas Motor Speedway, NASCAR announced Wednesday.
The penalties against Chad Walter, crew chief of Mears’ No. 24 Chevrolet, and Tony Eury Sr., crew chief of Keselowski’s No. 88 Chevrolet, were fined and placed on probation for violating three sections of the NASCAR rule book, including using parts not conforming to NASCAR rules, using unthreaded lug nuts and actions detrimental to stock car racing.
The violations were discovered during a pre-race inspection on Nov. 3, NASCAR said.
