Regan SmithRegan Smith, the promising rookie who may not have any sponsorship next season at DEI, will apparently soon be sidelined; Mark Martin is leaving DEI at the end of the season to join Rick Hendrick; Martin Truex Jr. is trying to leave DEI at the end of the year, though that legal issue is still up in the air; and Paul Menard’s wealthy father John is reported talking with Ford’s Jack Roush apparently about moving his financial NASCAR stake there, presumably with Paul Menard driving a Roush-Yates Ford in 2009.

That only leaves DEI with newcomer Aric Almirola.

You reap what you sew, DEI!

So, if they only have one largely untested driver under contract, and TE is supposedly holding onto control of the names “Dale Earnhardt” and “the Intimidator,” what is any potential investor getting a share in? An empty garage? The deteriorating relationship with Childress? The trophies and photos on the wall? DEI is demonstrating how NOT to attract partners and investors. I think it’s possible that DEI ceases to exist in its present form by the 2009 Daytona 500. For fans of Dale Sr., this is so sad.

this isnt the best news for nascar. the only earnhardt name mentioned each week belongs to the hendrick camp. theresa did the right thing by not GIVING dei to jr, but maybe she shouldve allowed him to buy into it each year until eventually he would have major control. she coudlve stayed a few more years than scrammed. it shouldnt be going down like this though

Sidelined? What kind of crap is that? The term usually refers to an injury. If that’s their way of saying he’s screwed, why don’t they just come out and say it? Tony was right when he said “DEI without Junior is a museum”. Max and Teresa must be proud of their accomplishment Anyone can run a perfectly good business into the ground. Just look at Brian France.

Face it DEI has been going down hill since Sr died. Sr was alive he was a source of income without a source withdraw. Jr wanted millions of dollars a year to race there, his salary alone was the biggest expense to that team.

You are totally clueless. Dale Sr. built that company for Jr. When he was asking for controlling interest, he only wanted 51%, not the whole company. He only wanted enough to be able to control what happens in the garage, not some dumb b**ch who don’t know anything but how to fill her cup of tea every day.

Hey Nev, just today an article game out and Jr said HE DOES NOT want any kind of ownership in a team that competes at the Cup Level.

I believe it was an ESPN article, he even said he does not want DEI. Well if he doesn’t want DEI then why did he cry about it last year… or was that just his gold digging sister talking for him…..

Jr. has his own team, it’s called JR Motorsports. Why would he want anything to do with a company that has totally taken a turn for the worse over the last year because the owner doesn’t have a frigging clue on how to run a business.

She ran off her best asset because she’s a greedy b**ch

He doesn’t want DEI ANYMORE. He did want it last year, though. In an article today he said that he wouldn’t want to buy it just for the sake of owning it. He’s got his own team in JR Motorsports that he’s pretty happy with right now.

Here’s the link to the article.

Yes but he has said in the past he wants to take JRM to cup, what better/cheaper way to bring your team to cup then to buy the assets of a current cup team?

  11. 11 observant bystander

Why would Jr want something now that has been run in the ground?

  12. 12 Rick

The asking / we’re not for sale price is between $115-$130M. Wait for the auction.
TE also will retain the “Earnhardt” and “Intimidator” rights if there is a sale. Looks like that might be the only money maker left within DEI.

  13. 13 Dustin

I heard for $500 Teresa will let you sit on her husband’s headstone. Not really but I wouldn’t be surprised if it did happen.

jr can wait until dei goes on the auction block. then he can bid on every thing at dei. no one would bid agaisnt him because he is jr. he would then get all of dei for pennies on a dollar. hummm!
