MartinsvilleClay Campbell, president of Martinsville Speedway, questions if adding lights makes business sense, because his track’s race dates are typically in early April (it will be late March next year) and mid-October, when conditions can be cool during the day, let alone at night.

“The thing that would push it over the edge for us maybe doing lights would be the other events that we do … like the modified race and the Late Models,” Campbell said.

Adding temporary lights presents issues, Campbell said, because they take up so much room.

Whoever designs and upholds this news forum needs to correct some problems. I run a 1280×1024 resolution, and when I type io this box here it goes into an invisible area over to where other links are and IU cannot read what I type and correct mistakes. Also, now your post of news are carrying out aswell, to where I miss the last 2-3 words on sentences, and it can make understanding paragraphs mighty hard. Please get to work and fix these problems. I love the site, the posts on myspace keep me up to date on news with my nascar buddies, more than half the time Im the first with the new news, its just lately these format problems have crippled menjoyment of the site.
    P.S. : I Know I Made Soem Typo’s, But Hey, I Couldn’t Re-read To Correct Them.

I run 1280×1024 on my work computer (on it right now) and I don’t have this problem in Firefox or IE7. I also don’t have any problem on at home at 1680×1050. Here’s the contact page to get with Kenneth on your issue:

I’ve had a similar issue on other sites, but never this one, so I don’t know what’s up with that. Whenever I’ve had the problem on other places, minimizing and then maximizing the page usually fixes it, so at least in my case it appears to be an issue with the browser drawing the page properly.

Can you guys supply me with the browser you’re using and the version of that browser? I can’t fix the issue unless I know where to start.

    Thanks! :)

Night races have lost their effect. Once they become the “norm” they are no longer special.

The modified race under the lights is awesome, and im sure the latemodel one is too. But it wouldnt make sense for cup/busch/trucks.

Also keep in mind the more saturday night races NASCAR runs the more they are killing their future. Most short tracks around the country run saturday night and when NASCAR runs alot of the fans stay home to watch NASCAR instead of supporting the future stars of the sport.

5 or 6 night races a season are enough, more then that it doesnt have that “WOW” Factor anymore.

Martinsville doesnt need lights for night races. Its too cool for night racing, like the owner states. Now if NASCAR wishes to give them a date for a night race, like summer dates, maybe.

I for one say the night races are for Late Models on Saturday nights. NOW That’s Racing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Martinsville hosts some of the best Late Model Racing in the Country. 150 Stock Cars buying for a position in the main heat. Cost to attend is good and you get tons of racing, REAL racing !!! Then the Main Feature with a great field of Stock Cars. By the end of the Long Racing Day, you’ve had a Full day of Racing, beating and banging, neck break speeds, all trying to make a field to reach a top spot in the main event.

As for the lights, If it went into the night, yes, lights would be great, but usuually Martinsville run such a great event and waste no time, lights are not needed and one is driving home before dark or dusk.

I say, no lights unless , NASCAR wants to Foot the Bills……..

I think it would be a waste of money if just doing it for cup, their gonna end up losing a race probably both with the way nascar is going.
