Martin Truex Jr. announces foundation for less fortunate

Martin Truex Jr. announced he has started a foundation that will benefit children in need. Truex Jr. donated a check in the amount of $100,000 to the foundation in making the announcement. “I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by a loving family and supportive friends,” said Truex. “They have helped me get to where I am today. When I joined Dale Earnhardt Inc. I made a promise to myself to give back to those less fortunate than me.
The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation is the realization of that promise. The foundation is dedicated to providing funds to non-profit, charitable organizations that will properly impact the lives of children. It will benefit children in my hometown in New Jersey, as well as the town of Mooresville, North Carolina, and the surrounding area. There are so many kids who could accomplish things in their lives if only given the right tools. My goal is to help these kids any way I can. Our first project, “Little Bears for Little Kids”, is a stuffed animal drive for children who have been served by the Dove House in Statesville, North Carolina.
We have collected several thousand stuffed animals for the children in need. I need to thank everyone with all of these corporations who have helped to make this a success.” The Dale Earnhardt Foundation also donated $5,000 to the fund. The Earnhardt Foundation will donate $3,000 for each victory Truex Jr. earns for the rest of 2007 and in 2008. Bass Pro Shops will also donate 1,000 stuffed bears to the Little Bears for Little Kids program. Eight hundred and twenty-seven of the bears were donated today to the Dove House in Statesville, which benefits victims of child abuse.

Aww–Martin is such a nice guy.
I love him.
He’s grown on me the past year because of friends of his and then of course–reading things like this!!!
Hot Rod Todd….
Your jewel of a remark demonstrates how young, uninformed… and biasly
______________
DEI (Especially Teresa) have notoriously been some of the hugest financial
donors that far excede ANYTHING that Junior, Truex… or for that matter,
most any other drivers have given for charity… and Teresa and Dale Sr.
have done it throughout the 27 year existence of their company.
Teresa [herself] has given HUGE amounts to private charities that help
handicapped children with disabilities - because of issues in her private
life, which i’m not about to discuss in a public forum. The reason
you don’t hear it trumpetted on a megaphone like we do every time the
others do it… is because Teresa chooses to operate on a much more discrete
level because she does not seek the media attention or spot light…
The first group he can help are the kids of the DEI/ Ginn merger victims.
Another idiot in the group…
There were no DEI/Ginn merger victims. Only victims created by Bobby
Ginn’s own demise. DEI saved 2/3 of that organization from TOTAL demise
by rescuing what was left of the organization before further loss.
Another 12 months on Ginn’s current path… and Bobby would have been
closing the doors on EVERYBODY.
Thank DEI for PREVENTING ALL OF THE “Ginn Kids” from becoming victims.
This is EXACTLY why the comment feature after all online news articles
should be discontinued.
Lies. Stupidity. Defamation. (not legitimate “opinion”)
jim i understand what you are sayen, dei has gave a ton. iam not knocken them, but this is the top man for next year and the only dei in the chase. the only thing i was tryen to say is dig alittle deeper, he is the poster boy for them, jr is gone after this year. i have watched nascar for almost 30 years. so trust me i have a good idea of what they have gave, thats why i say what i a say. iam not tryen to be a jerk about it. so think about the names you call people when you say them ____ h___!!
We kept hearing that 125 employees lost jobs. That was widely reported. Is everyone that claims that, starting with Nemechek and Labbe, lying? There has to be some truth to it. Ginn went from contender to pretender in a heartbeat and a lot of people were victims on different levels. And everyone knows that DEI has given to charities for years. I hope they continue to do so. I just didn’t know that we had so many knowledgeable DEI know it all insiders on board this column. Opinions are like a**holes and everybody has one. Enjoy.

Hey Jim. what exactly do you define as a legitimate opinion? Anything that conforms to what you think? When I look up opinion, I get “A belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty.” When I read that and look at all of the comments in this thread (including YOURS), they all look like legitimate opinions to me!
By the way, if you don’t like the comment feature then don’t read the comments! Seems like that should pretty much be common sense, IMHO.
JUST KEEP MARTIN OUT OF DAYTONA ,WERE HE LIKES TO LEAVE HIS “MARK” ON CAR TIRES!! NOW THAT IS DONATING!!
It was the Dale Earnhardt Foundation that donated $5,000 not DEI
I’d rather be one of Jerry’s Kids than Jim’s.
