Mark MartinMark Martin says he plans to run about 26 NASCAR Sprint Cup races in 2008, a schedule that will closely match this year’s lineup.

Martin and Aric Almirola will share the No. 8 Dale Earnhardt Inc. Chevrolet next season.

“We really started this year on a high note with the run at Daytona and a string of top five finishes,” he said. “A lot has happened since then, and it really has been a crazy season to say the least. However, I would like nothing better than to go out this season the same way we came in - fighting for a win.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what we have this weekend and then moving forward into next season. I’m very excited about running the No. 8 Chevrolet next season and moving down the road with Dale Earnhardt Inc. as we work to truly complete the merger of the two teams and move into a new year as a strong four-car organization.”

Interesting. I thought for sure Almirola would
be getting the most seat time.

He should just take it all the way and race all 30 whatever-number it is. My heart left NASCAR when MM stopped racing full time.

Mark brings the most respect to the track of any driver. He needs a win.

Yeah Mark has been my fav driver since davey got killed , but since DEI bought the 01 team out , its almost like he’s not in the race. The cars arent fast and usually the motor doesnt last. Its funny running for Ginn with Hendrick power , he was leading the points , ran up front most races he was in at the start of the season , now with DEI equipment he’s just another guy getting lapped.

Here’s a guy that peed everyone off with his farewell tours of 2005 and 2006. Farewell collectibles brought in big money for 2005. Then like Cher, a second farewell tour for 2006 was created. Roush NEVER had a gun to this guy’s head. He willingly took the money for those 2 years. That’s almost a good case of fraud. A repeat offender, if you will. He LOST credibility with a lot of die hard fans as a result. Like his commercial says,”Go away Twinkle Toes”.

The only reason he is gonna drive the 8 car is because of who he is. If DEI put a rookie or someone lesser known in the 8 car he would be hated from day one. With martin behind the wheel of the 8 car no one is going to question him.
