Mars candy to sponsor Kyle Busch’s No 18 in 2008-UPDATE

M&M’s would replace Interstate Batteries, which has sponsored Gibbs’ flagship #18 since its 1992 inception. J.D. Gibbs, president of the race team, didn’t respond to a request for comment. But two people familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press that Mars was working on a deal to sponsor Busch that will be officially announced next month at M&M’s World in New York City. They requested anonymity because the deal was not yet complete. Interstate is expected to stay involved with JGR in a smaller role.

Mars Inc., which has sponsored both Nextel Cup teams at Robert Yates Racing this season, is finalizing a deal to become the sponsor of driver Kyle Busch at Joe Gibbs Racing next season, The Charlotte Observer and ThatsRacin.com report.
If the deal is completed as expected, the Mars’ M&M’s brand would sponsor Busch’s No. 18 Toyotas next season, multiple sources said on Thursday. A formal announcement of the sponsorship change could come as early as the first week of October. Officials with JGR and Mars Inc. did not immediately return calls for comment on Thursday night.

Interesting… So is this is a split sponsorship deal or is Interstate gone?

how pist would you be to go from a sponsor that has pretty cool lookin cars and is auto related, to mars candy whose cars look like rolling turds and have m&m’s on them.
The kid can at least understand candy.
Its sad that a Company like M&M’s will sponsor a jerk like K Busch.
