Sterling Marlin may not be without a Nextel Cup ride for long. Late Tuesday a team source at Morgan-McClure Racing, which currently fields the #4 Chevy with veteran Ward Burton, said that officials there are in discussions with Marlin for a possible second team.
UPDATE:
Morgan McClure team owner Larry McClure told Claire B. Lang on XM Satellite Radio that the rumor is absolutely not true.
McClure: “I know nothing about it. I have talked to no one. I have not talked to Sterling in a year and I have not talked to any of his people.”
CBL: By no stretch of the imagination would anyone think that Sterling Marlin is going to go work for you.
McClure: “No mam.”

Why?
Why Not? Put him in godd equipment and he can win He has won back to back Daytona 500’s only two others have doen that. (Petty and Yarlbourgh is good company to be in) He has been racing a lot longer then most most, and he races people clean and controls himself better then (nascars greatest driver ever) Tony Jerk

I can appreciate his Daytona accomplishments, however, that was in 1994-5. That will only get you so far in today’s world.
He is a field filler who should have quit in 2003 @ Daytona.
Is Morgan McClure retarded or something? A second team in the works? Wasn’t it just a few days ago, that it was reported that they might go under? They can’t even get Ward into the show for half the races. Ward needs to go elsewhere, and even Sterling would deserve better. But I’d rather have Sterling replace Ward in the car. Marlin is still able to qualify on time (he did it the 1st 5 races this year), so iff they sign him, just have him replace Ward.
good luck marlin. glad you got your old # back
“Put him in good equipment”
You think moving to Morgan-McClure is putting himself in good equipment.
My hats off to them, they have done tremendous to stay in the sport this long.
But they are a far-cry from being ‘good equipment’
They do have potential, however that potential is restricted by what makes the world go round.
Money.
Morgan McClure has a long way to go and Ward is just as good of a driver as any out there but i think they should just buy their cars from someone else until they can catch up on the tech side.
