Logano likely to run Cup races for Gibbs this year

Joey Logano, who in only his third Nationwide Series start won on Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway, likely will compete in a few Sprint Cup races for Joe Gibbs Racing before the end of the season. “We would like to get him in some Cup stuff towards the end of the year,” team owner Joe Gibbs said before Sunday’s Cup race at Michigan International Speedway.
“We want to make sure it’s the good stuff and the right way.” Gibbs said it was too late in the year to start a fourth Cup team for Logano to run fulltime next season. Asked if Logano might replace Tony Stewart should the two-time Cup champion leave for another team [rumored teams include Haas CNC, #5 Hendrick, 4th RCR team], Gibbs said, “I don’t think we’ve gone in that direction yet. We’re still trying to work things out.” Stewart is being pursued by several teams, including at least one [Haas CNC Racing] that is offering ownership.
Gibbs and his son, team president J.D. Gibbs, have been emphatic that they won’t part with Stewart before his contract expires after 2009. They remain optimistic that he will re-sign with JGR and end his career there.
- Logano to make Cup debut at Richmond?
- Logano will drive 5 Cup races for HOF this fall
- Logano confirms he intends to stay with Gibbs
- Logano could run some Busch Races in ’08
- Logano the front-runner to replace Tony Stewart at JGR

Wow how cool would that be Jeff, Jimmie, Jr, and Tony all on the same team!
Bye bye Tony!!! I love JGR, but it’s time for Tony to move on.
I think it would be AWESOME to have Jeff, Jimmie, Jr, and Tony on one team…talk about a powerhouse team!!
That team can barely exists with the 3 Egos it has, wait till they add a 4th…..
Tony Wont go to hendrick. Tony is gonna stay at gibbs and logano will be in the 4th gibbs car next year.

I think your correct. Shrub will be very upset as well because he is not the star anymore.
If I am right the biggest powerhouse in NASCAR will shift to GIBBS for sure!
And the reason I think Tony will stay at gibbs is easy to see…he wants to win and at Haas CNC he wouldnt win for the rest of his career, also what may end up happening is that Tony may have part ownership in the 4th cup car logano may be driving.
How in the heck is that going to work this season without adding a fourth car? Hamlin, Stewart, and Busch are all likely to be in the Chase, so they can’t sacrifice ANY driver points!
I can’t see him going to Hendricks. I’d love to see him at RCR.
I like this Lagano kid… I dont wanna see him go to fast and and up like shrub though. Let him win a championship in nationwide before you rush him into cup.
They are pushing that kid way too hard.
Hes only done 2-3 Busch races and they are talking Cup in a few months?
I dont care if he wont his first 5 races…he needs experience first.
if Gibbs puts Joey in a Cup car then thats the biggest mistake they have ever made. i feel that Joey isn’t ready to drive a cup car yet. and i can’t believe i’m saying this, since i hate Tony, but i hope that he leaves Gibbs, cuz really Gibbs is pinning everything on Joey now, and i can’t wait to watch him fail.
if Tony leaves Gibbs it’s going to be RCR, i don’t think Hendrick can afford JR, Jeff, And Jimmie and still be the best racing Team. RCR Needs Tony More Then Hendrick
Putting Tony with Gordon, Junior, and Johnson
would be like putting Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso together…
O WAIT. that did happen, and see how that one turned out…

I think Stewart wants to run a Chevy again. I don’t think that Toyota will be in his future. He’s too close with GM. I think either Haas or RCR. I did hear some rumor (internet rumor, take it for what it’s worth) that RCR is going to offer an ownership option to Stewart when Richard Childress retires.
Tony stewart is not going hendrick next year joey logano should untill next year to try sprint cup action
They shouldn’t let Joey race Cup yet. Personally I think you should have a decent amount of time in the Busch series (yes, I don’t call it Nationwide) before moving up to Cup. I’m a Gibbs fan and that would be a huge mistake. I don’t want to see Tony go anywhere, but if he had to leave I think RCR would be best. They couldn’t have Tony, Jeff, Jimmie and Jr on the same team, it kills the competitiveness of the sport having that many people under the same owner. And besides, Hendrick doesn’t hold the good values that Tony is used to. Go ahead and hate me Hendrick fans, but our crew chiefs haven’t had all the ‘vacation time’ Knaus has had over the past few years…

I’ve been in favor for years of either having two full years in CTS or two full years in Nationwide, or one year in CTS then one in Nationwide before you are allowed to even test a Cup car.
