Levi Strauss terminates sponsorship with Jimmie Johnson

Levi Strauss has notified Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson that it will not continue its personal services agreement with him beyond the 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup season, according to the SportsBusiness Journal.
The company has been Johnson’s official apparel sponsor since 2004. Last fall, it announced a three-year contract with Johnson that was to run through the 2009 season. A corporate official told the SportsBusiness Journal that it would be going in a different direction than being the official jeans of the team.
Wrangler jeans recently announced a contract with Dale Earnhardt Jr. that includes an associate sponsorship on the driver’s Hendrick Motorsports car in 2008, but Johnson’s business manager told the SBJ that the Levi’s contract had nothing to do with the Wrangler contract.

I don’t believe it wasn’t because of Wrangler, JJ and Jeff better watch because Dale is taking over at HMS what he wants Rick Hendrick is trying to provide afterall he is the new money maker for HMS as long as he can make the cash registers ring everyone else will be watching.

They can say all they want… It’s because they didn’t like Wrangler’s boy coming in to team with theirs. Levi Strauss has way more comfortable jeans, though.
What about the box car derby thing?
Even tho I am a die hard JJ fan - that soap box commercial is in
a monotone.. “Lets go racing boys”… Doesn’t do much for me.

JJ will find another sponser. They did not try very hard to get him good commercials. He is pretty good
when he is given good material.

Hmmm….I don’t believe them. Too much of a “coinki dink” I think. I understand of course…who goes into buisness with their competition, unless they are giving up? Well I like Levi jeans alot better than Wrangler…but I love those Wranglers on JR! Jimmie doesn’t hold a burning candle to JR’s backside. Now lets see Wrangler fit into the dress code of HMS! Fill the whole team out with some cool clothing!
