Kyle Petty said decision to get out of car for Texas was not his

Kyle Petty isn’t happy about the decision to replace him with rookie Chad McCumbee for Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway.
He made it clear on Friday that it was not his decision to step aside even though Robbie Loomis, the vice president of competition at Petty Enterprises, said it was.
“I don’t care what he said,” Petty said. “I said it wasn’t. Why would I get out of a car?”
Petty would not say who made the decision, whether it was Loomis or his father, seven-time NASCAR champion Richard Petty. He referred to the decision-maker only as “they.”
“Everybody is they,” he said. “Like a kid when you’re little, everybody made me do it.”
The decision was announced on Monday, three days after Petty failed to qualify for the race at Martinsville Speedway and a week after he fell out of the top 35 in owners’ points guaranteed a spot in the field each week.
“Quite frankly, Kyle is the one that came up with the idea,” said Loomis, adding Petty will be back in the car next week at Phoenix. “On Monday, Kyle and Richard came to the shop and talked to me and said, ‘Hey, I know you’re trying to strengthening this team up. Let’s try to leave as much as that intact as you can right now and let’s put Chad in there and give him a chance.”’
- McCumbee to race No 45 Dodge at Texas in place of Petty
- Kyle Petty to deliever food in Wisconsin and Texas
- Music City Motorplex to name race for Adam Petty
- Coke Zero to sponsor Petty in Nextel Open/Coke 600
- Petty takes responsibility for TV profanity, but says it was accurate

Aww he got his toy taken away from him. Boohooo. And it appears that Daddy is laying down the law, telling him he sucks and that he (Richard) is tired of losing money and being embarrassed by his kid.
I can’t wait to see what Chad does in the ride. Hopefully he’ll take the seat permanently and make Kyles realize that he sucks and should never get back in a car again.
Good move … FINALLY
Kyle is currently looking for a new team to drive for because Petty Enterprises won’t give the #45 team as good equipment as the #43.

I bet the conversation went something like this.
Kyle (saying Jokingly) “well if your not happy with it put somebody else in the car”
Loomis (serious, thinking to himself) “Thats not that bad of an idea”
Loomis (saying to kyle) “Umm I gotta go, talk to you later”
Kyle (after finding out about this online) “What the heck I was joking when I said that”
Well, if they keep Bobby that would be a good thing. And I think the only reason Kyle would want to drive the #43 would be to get the better end of the stick in terms of equipment. What if RCR takes Kyle for the #33, cuz’ heck, all Childress needs is a guy to prepare the ride for his grandson, and Kyle could be locked in by the ol’ point switch-a-roo
I hope Kyle leaves PE and goes to a team that gives him decent equipment. richard is afraid to spend money.
If he goes to another team he had better produce or he will be out of racing.
This may sound like a diss on PE, but do you think Kyle has only sucked because of the equipment the team provided him?

Well you seen what chad did with the car lol pack it up go home, people need to face it petty enterprises has sucked for the last 25 years and I dont see that changing anytime soon.
Funny thing is Kyle has won all of his races in non-PE Equipment (remember PE2 was Kyles own team)
I know he still wants to race Cup for Adam, but since Adams accident it seems that Kyle has, how should I say this, Lost his fire. Now I’m not talking about his passion to drive and compete, but more his will to push it to the edge and take it over the edge, which is what you need to do to be competitive anymore.
Personally I’d like to see Kyle racing a number 43 STP Dodge Ram. Like I said, Everybody knows that he is still racing Cup to keep Adams memory alive, but IMO A better way to keep Adams memory alive would be to give another young driver a full time shot in that car. And Well Chad McCumbee is only 4 years younger then Adam, and honestly I think Adam would rather have his dad get out of the car and give somebody a chance, then have Kyle racing it for the rest of his career.

No that is true corkscrew PE has been a joke for over 20 years, why labonte went there I have no clue its ruined his career if rcr is offering him a ride id be gone quick an chad missing texas poor kid is doomed if stays there.

Austin dillon turns 18 this month,if nascar starts that age limit deal he couldnt race till 2011 so I dont think childress is really thinking of that, sponsors want results thats why general mills is leaving PE so childress has to put sombody half way decent in the 33.
Yeah but the way NASCAR was talking about that age limit rule they were mentioning grandfathering people in. So like lets say they want to start it next year, anybody who is under 21 but raced in a Nationwide or CTS race (or Cup Race) during the 2008 season would be grandfathered in.
Personally I don’t think they are going to do it, or at least they are not going to do it right away. They’ll make it a rule this year, but that rule does not go into effect until 2012 or something.
Either way its going to make a driver somewhere unhappy, but the rules are the rules, and an age rule for the Cup series is one of the better rules they’ve thought of.
Kyle always gives the impression he basically runs PE. If he has that kind of input, why is he complaining? Some of these decisions were his and he has to live with them. He was the one that talked Bobby into leaving JGR. He claims he was the one that got the Evernham deal by dropping Arrington. So if he can’t find good equipment after making these 2 previous deals I just mentioned, who’s fault is that? He hasn’t won a Cup race since Bill Clinton was probably serving his first term in the oval office. Back when gas was about $1.29 a gallon. The Pettys were heavily involved with the birth of the COT. Kyle is a very knowledgeable guy, but come on Kyle! Take a long look at yourself. Are you a racer, manager, broadcaster or whiner?
you know Kyle just needs to run Victory Junction with Patty and go to the shop when he feels like it. ever since he lost Adam and he was in Europe that weekend on vacation he hasnt been the same. Austin has no intentions of doin anything in the family business and Kyle is a great guy, i did two rides with him and it has nothing to do with equipment. he basically is just out there and nobody needs to talk bad about him or his dad, they are a great family.
