Kyle Busch makes it 7 Cup wins at Chicagoland

Kyle Busch got stuck in the infield mud after his dramatic late-race pass edged Jimmie Johnson in Saturday night’s LifeLock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway.
The mud was about the only thing that could slow Busch all weekend as he completed his first Sprint Cup/Nationwide Series sweep of the season.
In winning his seventh Sprint Cup race of the 2008 season, the series points leader dominated most of the night, leading 165 of the race’s 267 laps.
But when Johnson took his first lead of the night with 17 laps left, it looked like a Chevrolet would win for the seventh time in eight Cup races at Chicagoland.
“I gave up on myself, ” admitted Busch. “I’ve watched Jimmie Johnson do that a few times. I don’t know how I did that. This is a dream season.”
Busch did it by pushing Johnson on a restart with two laps left, then taking the high line to get around the two-time defending champion coming out of Turn 3.
“The saving grace was a good restart,” Busch said.
“That was pretty good right there,” said Busch’s crew chief Steve Addington. “That kid is pretty special.”
Johnson blamed himself, thinking he could hold off Busch by staying low.
“Not bad until the last lap,” Johnson said. “I should have given him the inside. I really wasn’t thinking defense. I thought with how we’d been running we were in good shape. … (At least) we showed we can beat that 18,” Johnson said. ”

Like or hate Kyle Busch (personially I’m in the middle) but that was one hell of a move on the GWC,
how he made that car stick I have no idea, lets hold off on the legend talk though, he has to do this
for a couple years along with winning at least 2 championships before you can start talkin bout him
in the legend category. But he is kickin everyones ass for the moment
i dont like Kyle and i Never rag on him…he made Jimmie (the back 2 back champion) look like a noob out there….and i laughed my ass off….it was one hell of a move so kudos to kyle
i went to the spring martinsville race in 2007, and i told my friend then that if kyle ever matures and gets his head out of his ass, hes going to dominate and thats whats happening…although i dont think he would even have 2 wins if he was at HMS right now….Toyota does have a slight advantage…but HMS and RFR is catching up and yesterday proved that when Johnson blew by Kyle
I am not a Kyle fan, but he is maturing and he can sure drive a car.
darrell… I agree that he probably wouldn’t have 2 wins if he was still at HMS. HMS was not the place for Kyle and I think that is obvious. If it would have been based on talent then Rick would never have let him go before Casey Mears. Something just didn’t click for Kyle and HMS and him leaving was best for both, however I believe it more for Kyle and JGR. JGR is just dominating and I don’t know why the other teams can’t catch up this year, maybe next.
Yea rowdy bush that was a pretty lame comment but on to more serious matters..I wish Jimmie could of pulled that one out, if it wasn’t for the last caution I think he could have but Kyle put a great move on him on the last restart and got the win. It was a pretty good race overall. I’m just glad Gordon got a top 12 finish!!!
Can’t believe Kyle’s led over 1000 laps this year already and there’s a TON of races left! That was one boring ass race, as is always the case at Chicago! Kyle didn’t help that by getting out there and leading all those laps either.

Kyle has been doing very good this year. However, even though he is ahead in points, that will not matter once the chase starts, then it is anybodies game. I guess we will see on how well he does once the chase starts…..
