Kyle Busch, Johnny Sauter: cars fail post-race inspection
Quote selected text Published July 1st, 2007 in NASCAR News
The Chevrolets of Kyle Busch and Johnny Sauter were both found to be too low in the left-front of their cars during post-race inspections on Sunday at New Hampshire International Speedway.
NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said both cars would be taken to NASCAR’s research and development center in Concord, N.C., to confirm the measurements taken at the track.
The teams face potential penalties if the violations are confirmed, but Poston said they would not be considered along the same lines as other penalties for “tampering with the car of tomorrow.”
Between them, Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Hendrick Motorsports have received three 100-point penalties and $100,000 fines for car of tomorrow violations this season.
- Busch and Ragan fail post-qualifying inspection, will start from the rear Sunday
- NASCAR hands down penalty to the # 5 and # 70
- Busch’s car fails post-race inspection-UPDATE
- Gordon and Johnson’s cars fail inspection, are parked for Friday
- Sauter in the No 70 for Darlington

OOOHHH burn! Wow…who would of thought, 2 other Hendrick affiliated cars bite the dust! hahah
more Hendricks penalty’s coming. Cant wait to see if NASCAR give the same fines as last week.
Geosh you Hendrick bashers are as bad as lawyers. You seem to just wait
by your computer and wait for them to make a mistake.
Crap I mistyped.
Does NASCAR quite realise how little an 1/8th inch is AFTER a race?
I mean before a race is one thing because it was put together measured and inspected but after a raceanything could have shifted enough to cause that differance and if it was intentional and Nascar missed it before the race that’s their problem! You can’t touch these COT cars without NASCAR getting bent out of shape. What these cars are put through durring a race I’m surprised they arn’t all outside of the 1/8th inch perameter after the race. I hate indy and this is just like how they are. You know at the begining of the season who will win and you can almost tell here too!
can anyone answer this for me !!!!!!!! im no mechanic but wouldnt your springs compress at least an eight of an inch ater 300 miles of racing? puting your car an eight of an inch lower?
Does anyone notice that suspending the crew chief means nothing. # of the top 5 today had suspended crew chiefs. I think a better idea , is no points for the race where an infraction takes place @nd infraction in 1 year, no points for 2 races.
that is a good idea justin
As much as i dislike Kyle and Hendrick you bashers need to get a life and its a wonder anyone gets through tech anymore
It’s all good the 5 team is just practicing the art of cheating for when Junior comes over to form the Hendrick Cheating Alliacne!
Anonymous, If you are going to bash, at least spell currently.
I really don’t see much, if any, penalties coming out of this. The COT is still new, and it will take time getting used to it, and seeing how it reacts at each track.
hahahahaha dont you people just love the penalties that are being handed
down….i mean yea the crew chiefs are suspended but they can still be at
the track just not at the specific areas and can still be in contact with
their respective teams….they should change it no money no contact with
the team for the length of the suspension and not be allowed at the track
that really doesnt seem like much of a suspension to me….but kyle busch
and johnny sauter may or may not get a penalty i mean i cant stand busch
but hey it was after a race and things to happen to cars…but on the
other hand this happened to gordon once in one of the old cars and he
still got a fine if im not mistaken…so who really knows what will
happen
jr got a fine on post race inspection, bullshit!!
I am not a Hendricks fan (but I guess I will be next year, Go Jr.!) but honestly, can’t this happen just
in the course of a race? I mean, didn’t the cars pass the pre-race inspections? Are they different? I am
honestly not being a smart ass, I would just like some clarification. I guess it is possible that the
teams could alter the car between the pre-race inspection and the actual race……but if that is the
case, the penalities obviously need to be stronger, at least for the Hendricks teams. Suspensions don’t seem
to make Rick bat an eye.
This is the same thing that happened to Vickers durind Qualifying and they dis-allowed his time so why should busch and Sautter get any less of a penility.
I can’t stand Rick Hendrick, but really people, an eighth of an inch?
That could easily happen in the course of a race, I do believe. Nascar’s
just trigger-happy on penalties involving the COT if they penalize
this.
Breanna: I agree with you, NASCAR seems to be very drunk on power right now, But in all fairness to Vickers He was not allowed to race due to the same violation so if nascar lets this slide or goes light on Kyle oand jonny then it is a slap in Brians face.
Oh well. They will get through it. Ku. Busch is getting through it. Junior is getting through it. Gordon is getting through it. And Johnson is getting through it. The penalties are slap on the wrists, pretty much every driver could do without their full time crew chiefs. So really, I dont see this being a big deal.
Go Junior!!

hey Alesia we dont have to wait by our computers for them to cheat……they do it every weekend! Notice how gibbs and Childress never have a problem during inspection? Maybe they follow the rule book and do what they are supposed to do. and for the people saying about after 300 laps of racing a car will be 1/8th of an inch lower Nascar allows them 1/8th of an inch but these 2 cars were an 1/8th of an inch out of tolerance! Just stating the facts so dont be hating!
Some of you are on to something pertaining to the springs. They can lose a little height after a race. The entire car sits a tad lower. To pass a pre race and fail a post race inspection is crazy. You can jack the weight around all day and change the heights somewhat. We’ll just have to wait and see.
James i dont think NASCAR even has a damn rulebook
Spell currently??? Hey maybe you should comeback w/ something spelled CORRECTLY yourself…
Looks like nascar is trying to prove a point to Hendrick, that he shall not question nascar’s supreme rule. 1/8 of an inch at a time…
Believe it or not Nascar does have a rulebook and all the nascar teams have one. I wish nascar would do something like sell the rulebook on their website so the fans can actually tell what the rules are instead of them telling us.
Anyone herd if there is going to be a penility or not???
We haven’t heard one way or the other although the likelyhood is they will announce some sort of penalty tomorrow or Friday.
