HAS THE WIN IN THE ALL-STAR RACE CHANGED YOUR APPROACH TO THE COCA-COLA 600? “I feel like we are a lot better today than I thought we were last week. I feel like our cars are better than I thought they were. Today in practice our Dodge Charger felt really good. It felt really good and we just have to keep working on it tonight and hopefully get a good qualifying spot, a good starting spot for Sunday.”
HOW DID THE ALL-STAR WIN HELP YOUR CONFIDENCE? “It helped me a lot. The guys are really excited. I feel a lot better about what I’m doing, about what I’m driving coming into this weekend. So I think that it helped me a lot.”
HOW MUCH TO YOU FOCUS ON QUALIFYING? “I like to focus a lot on qualifying each week because you just kind of go for it. You really get on the edge with these cars, so I enjoy it every week. (At Charlotte) it’s 600 miles. You only have so much time with your engine. We have 100 laps that we can run (safely in practice). We have to use a lot of that on Saturday because I think the race track will be closer to how it will be on Sunday. Today, we just focused everything on qualifying trying to get that No. 1 pit stall for Sunday night.”
