Kahne enters not guilty plea to battery charge

Gillett Evernham Motorsports driver Kasey Kahne has filed a written plea of not guilty to a charge of misdemeanor battery stemming from an alleged pushing incident with a security guard Nov. 16 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The not guilty plea was filed Thursday and cancels the arraignment scheduled for Tuesday.
Kahne has hired Richard Sharpstein as his attorney. Sharpstein has been in the news recently as the attorney and family friend of murdered Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor.
Kahne also faces a civil suit stemming from the incident. According to witness statements, Kahne’s brother said Kahne was pushing the guard’s hands off of him, while the security guard claims Kahne shoved him.

What a joke this is. Kahne will spend 10 times as much as a settlement would cost him and in end he will settle any way.
Just pay the old guy off and be done with the drama. Cost of being a famous race driver. LOL,LOL
THIS SO CALLED SECURITY GUARD IS GETING PUSHED AROUND BY KASEY KAHNE I WOULD TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF STEWART OR EDWARDS WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME THIS OLD FART WOULD PROBABLY HAVE BEEN PARALYZED. THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS LAWSUITE PEPOLE GET PUSHED EVERYDAY THIS OLD FART IS LOOKING FOR AN EASY PAY DAY I HOPE KAHNE AND HIS LAWYERS DRAG IT OUT THROUGH COURT TILL THIS GUY GOES BROKE. ASECURITY GUARD GETTING PUSHED THATS LIKE A STRIPPER GETTING MAD FOR A GUY LOOKING AT HER GIVE ME A BREAK.
That was such a bs charge anyway. Don’t these old gaffers study who is a driver and who isn’t? I mean come on, who the hell doesn’t know KASEY KAHNE? What a crock of crap. And Kasey seems so mild mannered. As the dog said once on Looney Tunes….”IT JUST DON’T ADD UP!!!”
My band has played for NASCAR races in Watkins Glen…..and I have a REALLY hard time believing that those guards don’t know who people are. And ESPECIALLY when they are wearing their gear! DUH. Rules or no rules, he should have left Kasey alone. I think he either wanted the publicity or the money.

You guys better leave that old man alone. Poor guy, everybody is talking crap about him and putting him down. Man, he may start suing all of you guys for slander, or maybe even worse, he may fall down crying from reading all this, break a bone, and then sue you guys and the website! I think we should all be careful what we say about him.

Wouldn’t this be a workmen’s comp claim because the guard was at work when it happened? A comp case is always for less money than a personal injury case in just about every state. Why the difference here? If you get hurt at work it’s up to your employer to handle things through their insurance company. If you’re not satisfied, you sue the insurance company. Some states have a no fault law. That means it’s not Kahne’s or the speedway’s fault. It just happened. So I’m thinking the guy hired an ambulance chaser. Good luck, security man. You’ll need it.
The guard is perfectly right. He has a job THAT IS DICTATED TO HIM BY INSURANCE CO. AND HIGHER UPS. to do that job right or wrong. When rich & fanmost drivers begin to think they can disrespect some one and beat that persons body. . Well thats the time for them to pay and pay with super deep pockets.

This would probably be a comp case in my state. An some kind of assault charge against Kasey. Nothing more. I stated in earlier posts that Kahne is this jerks winning lottery ticket.
You are protected by your employers’ insurance while on the job unless they say otherwise BEFORE you are employed and you agree to it. Even if you slip and fall on company property BEFORE you punch in, it’s considered workmen’s comp. Your employer is supposed to provide you with a somewhat safe work environment for the most part. Police, military and firefighters work in tough conditions most of the time and their jobs are calculated risks. A security guard at the driver’s entrance at a NASCAR race isn’t exactly laying his life on the line for thankless strangers. And comp is only about 60-66% of your income. It IS hard to make ends meet for any length of time if you are forced to live on it. There’s nothing funny about it (comp). Been there, done that.
Kasey finally found someone he could beat up, an old man. Kasey is such a stud.
