Kasey KahneKasey Kahne continued his resurgence in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series by scoring his second win in the last three races after he claimed victory in the Pocono 500 at Pocono Raceway.

Kahne started from the pole, overcame an early pit road penalty and led a race-high 69 of the 200 laps to continue the roll he’s been on since winning the All-Star race last month.

Brian Vickers was second for his best finish since joining Red Bull Racing at the start of last season. Denny Hamlin was third.

“Never. I’ve never had a car that dominant before,” Kahne said. “This one stayed the same all day long. It was so good all day long.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr. was fourth and appeared winded after racing over four hours on the hottest day so far of the NASCAR season. Temperatures hovered around 90 degrees all day, even after a brief rain shower halted action midway through the race.

“It’s pretty hot,” a red-faced Earnhardt said. “It’s going to be a little hotter the next couple months.”

Kyle Busch, who wrecked his primary car in Saturday’s practice session, started at the rear of the field when he had to switch to his backup Toyota and was running deep in traffic when he ran into Jamie McMurray as the battled for the same spot of race track. It sent Busch into the garage for repairs, and even though his crew rebuilt the car and got him back on the track, he wound up 43rd.

“I saw (McMurray) get high, get loose, and thought he faded back further than he did,” Busch said. “We broke the mirror trying to adjust it there before the race and couldn’t see anything out my right rear quarter panel. So I couldn’t clear myself. The spotter didn’t say anything, so I apologize to McMurray for wrecking their day.”

Despite what Boris Said predicted that the Pocono 500 would be boring last week on NASCAR Now, with the exception of the nightmare patch work in turn 3, this wasn’t a bad race when TNT had a picture and sound (not of the announcers) during the broadcast and another good win for Kasey kahne, there doing good now, plus Dale Jr. got another top 5 finish and a good boost in points.

Like I said, not a bad race overall. Works for me.

  2. 2 RedDevil

Could of been worse. Nice win for Kasey Kahne the Hurricane.

Get it right it’s Ralph D Earnhardt the best there ever was and will ever be.

But lets change alittle here, there are rules now, rules weren’t in place when RDE was alive, and Yes RDE got it too when he did that and he got em right back but better……..

Shrub reminds me more of Tim Richmond, but my girlfriend says “minus the good looks” Some on this blog will not know who i am talking about.

congrat to Kane. He ran a great race. except for a little mishappen at the beging. his pit crew were top, his car was tops and Kane was awesome. the shrub was wrecking so the others could get some top points before he comes at them again. now when he wins more races the other drivers and fans can’t cry. they will realize how good a driver he really is. great run for brian and denny.

heres a little bit of info from Joe Menzer on Nascar.com that i think all the JR Nation Haters, especially FISHA, should enjoy…cause its the cold hard facts!!!

    “did you see …

The sweet race move Earnhardt put on Jeff Burton to hold the hard-charging Burton off for fourth place in Sunday’s race? After Burton had made his own strong pass, Earnhardt immediately retaliated with a swift and unexpected dive underneath. For all those Junior critics who say he can’t drive, it was hard evidence that, well, yes, he can”

it was an awesome move….and YOU ALL SEEN IT….so cut the crap and stop criticizing him…he may be over rated…and i agree but he can drive and when he wins, you all can sit and cry about it cause its going to start a chain you wont be able to handle!!

  16. 16 Anonymous

You mean he made a pass in a four hour race?

    Isn’t that his job?

It was your basic cross-over move…..yawn.

that was not in Joe Menzers article, and I hope Dale can still pass, if he couldnt pass another car he wouldnt be racing anymore.he has not won for 2 seasons now and he is due, but the hard facts are that the JR Nation thinks he has to win a race or they think he is not getting good equipment or something is wrong at Hendrick. Actually Rick could care less if Dale wins, he just wants him in the chase and that is what he is doing.if he wins 3 races this year that would be great but that is not expected of him right now.
