Johnson offered lifetime contract by Rick Hendrick

NASCAR Sprint Cup teams may cringe when they hear this: Jimmie Johnson has been offered a lifetime contract to stay at Hendrick Motorsports.
“And it’s a lifetime contract with unlimited budget, right?” Johnson jokingly asked team owner Rick Hendrick after the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway last weekend.
Johnson is coming off his second consecutive Nextel Cup championship, and he and crew chief Chad Knaus have won 33 races in their six years together on the No. 48 Chevrolet team. Johnson has also finished in the top five in the final points standings all six seasons he’s raced in Cup.
“I just offered it to him,” Hendrick said. “It’s a commitment. Jimmie and I talked about it, and Chad and I talked about it. You know, I want to do whatever I can do to keep it together.
“When you’ve got someone that you really enjoy being with, and you see that they’ve got unlimited potential and he and Chad have got great chemistry - I try to look down the road as far as they feel comfortable. So we know we’re going to be together for a few more years. I’m going to do everything I can to give them everything they need and whatever they look forward to in the future.”

Sounds like a good decision on both ends. As long as Hendrick keeps Chad around too!
this was a great decision. can not wait for 2008 and rest of the way:)

You are correct. they are the best team in racing right now.
Hendrick is a smart man…….
This totally made my day!
Cool, and true, they need to keep Chad Knaus around
as well. He has a huge impact on that team.
What? No lifetime contract, make that any contract, for Boris Said? Smart man that Rick Hendrick.
Congrats to Jimmie once again for making it this far.
Wow, with that driving record, and TC going for him, he will hold the most career wins behind R. Petty.
Lets see, that adverage is 6 wins a year times 25 racing years, comes to 137 wins……. Hummm……… Something Stinks, but who’s to say, TC.
Gordon used it and now JJ.
Must to be Nice…….
What a Go NASCAR, Poster Boy, Number Two. Cloned !!
Haha… You actually think he has Traction Control? Ha! You are crazy. All of you are who think that.
Oh, and by the way… Even if Nascar DID allow a certain team to have TC, wouldn’t you think it would Dale Jr. who nascar let have it? They way he’s been driving lately, he needs it, though.
When JG was wining all he time people accused him of having TC as well. JJ is just a great driver with a great team! I a JR fan and always will be but you have to realize which drivers are the best and have the best.
LIFE. It almost sounds like a prison sentence.
Johnson and his team are on a great run, but it will end like all amazing runs do. He will probably leave a good mark in the record books, but he won’t average 6 wins a year forever and probably won’t go for 20+ seasons
