When it comes down to driving ability between Montoya and Mears the differences ARE as obvious as high noon and midnight.

Points this, points that... Montoya is consistently up front despite the points postion. He's never even seen most of these tracks before! A lug nut off? What series are you watching? Most drivers can rebound from crew mistakes atleast half of the time. So lets say half of his were from a lug nut or bad setup... because I can clearly remember poor performances from his own hands. Drivers should be able to communicate with their crew chief and teams properly and let them know what they need and also overcome some level of disadvantages. So, that didn't happen at Ganassi, It obviously ain't happening at Hendrick. What has been the only constant? Casey Mears.

Its amazing how everyone keeps bringing up Tony when he isn't even the subject of a debate...

This year Mears' DNF's in the last 40 or so laps of the race have been caused by him having the car in that situation when the shit is hitting the fan. Casey Mears ends up in the same situations on the track over and over. If I give him the benefit of the doubt he would account for atleast 50 percent of them. Those situations are leading to the same results which aren't good. I would call that making the same mistakes.

Say what you want. My opinion. He's not on the level of many other drivers in Cup... That is becoming a proven fact. Bad team members or not.

I attack Mears, you attack me. No one wins, much like Mears.

Yes, clearly it's Mears' fault that, you know, his own crew chief told him that the 48 and 24 were pitting. How dare he trust his crew chief, he should be fined for that!

And the differences are like night and day? Mears was far closer to winning races (5 times, in fact) than Montoya has been. Of course, you're so busy jerking off to Tony Stewart that you'd probably not even notice that and just think that since he has had a crappy season (none of which has been his doing) that he's a terrible driver. And he always wrecks in the 2nd half of a race? What series have you been watching? And make the same mistakes? Last season, the biggest mistake he had was not bolting from Ganassi quicker than he had. Most of his bad finishes last year were because his crew sucked (I can't even begin to count how many races he lost because his crew left off a lug nut).

For that mater, at this time last season, Mears was 11th in the standings, while Montoya is 19th. Hey, you're right, it IS like the difference between night and day! He's 8 positions lower in the points!

"But please ya’ll, watch Mears closely for the rest of the season. You’ll see that I’m right. He friggin’ blows. He only has 1 top 10 this season, no top 5’s. He’s also at the horrible disadvantage of being in a Hendrick car! He’s 35th in points… He’s got a bad habit of crashing in the second half of a race, especially when the end is in sight. Why? Because he just can’t cut it. Sure this incident involved the stupidity of two people, but I don’t think this would have happened even if Kenny Wallace was in the car. "

Are you for real? No offense but that whole comment blows. You mention stats but leave out the details as to why he has those stats. He's not my favorite driver by any means but he does'nt blow. He has great skills. His tenure w/Ganassi was a joke. They treated him second rate the whole time so of course his & Montoya's on track performances are like night and day. Mears has been a front runner alot this season just to have someone else including his teammate/best friend wreck him. Gordon knew to pit so how can you say that something should have clicked in Mears’ head that no one else was going to do what he was going to do? Like I said, no offense but your comment is as lame as Tony's frustration & lashing out for getting wrecked.

Jiffy, I saw what Mears did with Ganassi. I watched it closely. I wanted to like him as much as anybody but he is definitely a no talent. Possibly he has short term memory and forgets not to make the same mistakes. Montoya is now Ganassi's driver and their on track performances are like night and day.

Also, Jimmie doesn't pay attention sometimes (like I said). I just really believe that there should have been something click in Mears' head that no one else was going to do what he was going to do. If you don't have a feel for what's going on then you're a bad driver. Miscommunication or not. Jimmie just happened to be dreaming about doing golf cart stunts at the time.

4SPEED,
As usual you're fixated on Tony like a little girl with a crush on the school bully. I'm honestly not sure I have a driver, 4SPEED. I think I'm too realistic about all of the current drivers to be able to have a favorite... and too picky. Tony is definitely awesome. Alot more than most.

As far as the Kyle B-U-S-H incident... Sometimes Tony lacks the capability of compassion for another living person and no longer cares if they exist. He's not going to say sorry for that.

On a side note, I can't believe you brought up Tony without anyone even mentioning him. That just proves a large portion of everything you claim Tony isn't. He's definitely in a slump but he always turns it on during the second half of the season. He should be hitting that stride very soon... He's an emotional driver, he can't help it.

Hey Axel, back off. Mears is a great driver. He just has bad luck to be at the wrong places at the wrong times. He is a victim of circumstance. As for J.J. running Mears over that was typical J.J. response. To run your own teammate over makes anyone look bad. Mears said he was doing as he was told. He's not a spotter he is a driver. He can't run over to the pits of the 48 & 24 to make sure that his spotter or crewchief did what they said they did. On top of that Mr. Hendrick was there himself. Someone on the 48 team did not follow thru w/what they were told, J.J. I concur w/Jiffy that J.J.'s response was very, very hypocritical. Oh, & Smoke did look dumb for wrecking Ky. Busch & then lambasting J-Mac the next day for wrecking him. Shoot, My fav driver is R. Newman & he made a boneheaded move that knocked Montoya into the wall while damaging his own front end. But J.J., what an idiot.

4 Speed , that was such a good post , I forgot what I was gonna say. Oh yeah , "Johnson didnt get the message that Mears was gonna pit"...I guess he didnt get the message that there were about 38 other cars still on the track when he caused the next wreck also. Unless youre D.W. and I thin he blamed it on someone else like he always does. Him and Jimmy Spenser can watch slow motion and still not get it right. Or maybe they just dont want to.

FOLEY,
As usual, you have your head so far up your ass that your eyes are turning brown. At least he didn't badmouth his teammate like your driver would have done.

And didn't your driver have a hell-of-a week? First, he lets his mouth overload his ass on his radio show, then he acts like a puppydog and eats his words after NASCAR reads him the riot act. "I'm now convinced that all the cautions were necessary because the individuals that I sat down with have my respect and blah blah blah..." I wonder how those words tasted the second time around.

Then he pulls one of his patented boneheaded moves and takes Busch out of the Saturday race but he was strangely silent afterward when anyone else would have apologized. But Sunday, when he's involved in a multicar wreck, he's out on the track making a total ass out of himself blaming the wrong guy for taking him out. Then, post-race, someone shoves a camera in his face and asks him for a comment, and he again starts blaming McMurray who was just an innocent victim. You see, Joke, oops, I mean Smoke, just isn't smart enough to say, "I want to look at some film before I start pointing fingers at someone." And later, he starts ragging on Gilliland.

As I said in an earlier post, Stewart is a talented driver, but his actions on and off the track are caused by a lack of character. I used to think it was just immaturity, but he's not a kid any more. It's something about being a man that he just doesn't have and probably never will.

Uhh, Mears was waving down the backstretch that he was pitting, isn't that confirmation enough? and he was told by his spotter and crew chief that the 48 and 24 were pitting as well. And calling Mears a no-talent after how well he did with Ganassi, one of the worst teams out there, is the biggest load of BS I've ever heard, especially when comparing him to Kenny Wallace, the least talented of the Wallace brothers. Mike Wallace maybe, but even that would be a stretch. He simply has shit luck, like getting Ragan'd at Phoenix when he was one of the fastest guys out there, or getting punted by his own teammate, or getting Robby Gordon'd at Texas, or having a fuel pump come off. All of this in a single year, 5 things not of his doing going wrong in 9 races. Once the 25 figures their shit out (by far the worst HMS team) and he can catch a break he'll start doing as well as he's capable of.

Also, I find it funny that he kept his cool pretty well after the wreck, but after Vickers wrecked Johnson last year, Johnson wouldn't shut the ____ up about it for weeks afterwards and just kept whining and saying how bad of a teammate Vickers was. What a ______ hypocrite.

Uhh, Mears was waving down the backstretch that he was pitting, isn’t that confirmation enough? and he was told by his spotter and crew chief that the 48 and 24 were pitting as well. And calling Mears a no-talent after how well he did with Ganassi, one of the worst teams out there, is the biggest load of BS I’ve ever heard, especially when comparing him to Kenny Wallace, the least talented of the Wallace brothers. Mike Wallace maybe, but even that would be a stretch. He simply has shit luck, like getting Ragan’d at Phoenix when he was one of the fastest guys out there, or getting punted by his own teammate, or getting Robby Gordon’d at Texas, or having a fuel pump come off.
Mears sounded pretty pissed on his in-car and unconvinced of Jimmie's mistake at first. He still whined about it afterwards too. He just didn't have the balls to take it as far as Tony would. Regardless, an obvious mistake by someone (I say Mears and team together). Still, Jimmie has caused (and been involved in) alot of wrecks on the superspeedways while not paying attention.

Mears should have confirmed AND he shouldn't have started moving to pit road so far from the outside. I bet if he had hugged the line and looked like he was going in Jimmie would have paid attention or started asking questions. Anyways, just shows you what a no-talent Mears is. He doesn't deserve that car. Give it to Schrader or Kenny Wallace... Someone worthy and with some talent.

"That relegated Mears, who was running with the leaders when he crashed, to 39th place. But he didn’t get riled up at Johnson, who finished second behind another Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Jeff Gordon."
