Johnson and Gordon are past Martinsville

Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon have paved over any misunderstanding that grew from their hotly-contested battle at Martinsville.
Johnson said the two had talked and laughed about it yesterday at RIR.
The two clashed for the final 50 laps of last Sunday’s race, and Gordon gave several strong shots to the rear bumper of Johnson’s car in the closing turns. The Car of Tomorrow’s bumpers line up better, allowing for harder contact.
Johnson said that can help, since he said he often spent more time setting up a bump in the older model cars than it would have taken just to get in position and get a run next to them.
“In some ways I think it might make for better racing, like we saw at Martinsville,” Johnson said. “That was a great battle for 50-60 laps. Of course winning the race and not getting spun out by the hard hits, I think it’s a great thing. If I’m in second and I can’t move the guy, I might have a different opinion. But my opinion is thumbs up.”
