Jimmie Johnson turned a lap of 187.075mph to earn the pole for next Sunday’s 50th running of the Daytona 500. Michael Waltrip will start on the outside of row 1. These are the only two spots that are locked into the race. The other positions will be determined in Thursday’s Daytona Duel twin races.

Joe Nemecheck 3rd, Boris Said 9th. The COT is serving its purpose.
So far, so good. Franco is right. The COT is working for now anyway. More research and time will make it even better. Just don’t buy your nose pieces from Evernham. (lol)
Come on 3rd title. Cale Yarborough…. you’re going to have a tag team partner come November.
JJ is off to a GREAT start. Let’s keep it up!
Go J go. You helped Jr win the Shootout and gave us a thrilling race now get the next one for yourself!!!! Anybody but Smoke!!!!!
It was amazing to see how happy the fans around us were that Jr won.
And Jimmie was crying he wasn’t fast enough on Friday. Sure, we believed you Jimmie.
They have to throw us off. If he went out there talking about how fast he was going to be… you’d all call him cocky. It’s a lose-lose situation for him with you all.
He’s the man. deal with it.
^everything Trey said!
Are they SURE the car was legal THIS time?
I hardly think that his car is ever REALLY on the mark, just too ironic. I am sure that if really looked at, again someone will be penalized, fined, and suspended. But, then again NASCAR seems to have big johnsons for Johnson anymore. Poor Gordon must be feeling left out. How disgusting is this sport getting, when cheating is ok and the cheater is given a free pass time and time again. Sick.
He’s a cheater! Plain and simple. That will never go away now, so how can you really root for that?
Guess its ok to ruin what use to be a real sport, now its all about who can bend the rules and get away with it, not to mention whine their way through things. But then again… Nascar seems to be all up on Johnson’s johnson now arent they. Poor Gordo must feel so left out. Sick
Oh my… what in the world is wrong with you people? JIMMIE JOHNSON IS NOT CHEATING. DEAL WITH IT. NASCAR would NOT let him get away with it…. If they were to let anybody get away with cheating, don’t you think it would be somebody with a lot more fanboys like Dale Jr? Jimmie Johnson made a name for himself from nowhere. He is THE best driver in Nascar. Like I said before… Deal with it.
Why would they let Hendrick cheat? To watch ratings plummet? Get real..
where would JJ be with out his trusty crew chief “chad I only work in the gray areas”
Not on the pole for sure…
